Former NFL Quarterback Tony Romo Arrested

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested on Thursday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).

According to ABC News, Romo was stopped around 6:18 p.m. and “performed poorly” on standardized field sobriety tests.

He was taken into custody, booked, and released around 11 p.m.

“Romo was stopped while driving across a bridge, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office,” Fox News stated.

“He is due in court on Sept. 21,” it added.

Romo spent 14 years as a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. He joined the Cowboys in 2003 after signing as an undrafted free agent. He was named the starting quarterback for the team in 2006 and led the Cowboys to six playoff appearances.

He is a four-time Pro Bowler and he retired after the 2016 season.

In April 2017, Romo joined CBS Sports as the lead game analyst for “The NFL on CBS,” alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson as the network’s lead NFL announcing team.

“In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense, not a criminal charge,” WISN 12 News wrote.

“The citation typically carries a fine ranging from $150 to $300,” it added.
