No, Mary Does Not “Have a Lot of Pull” In Heaven…

I really did not want to have to write this article today.

I just wanted to wake up and have a normal day covering the news.

But then I opened up my email and saw this comment had come in on a recent YouTube video I did where I addressed the question: “Is it ok to pray to Mary?”

This is never something I thought I would spend so much time talking about, but several months ago, I made an off-handed comment in passing that the Catholics really should NOT be praying to Mary….and that led to a massive response from Catholics who wanted to fight me.

But I stand by what I said.

For one, she can’t hear your prayers anyway. She’s a human being who is now in Heaven, and the Bible is clear that human beings do not become “gods” or attain “godly powers” once they reach Heaven.

Only God can hear anyone’s prayers.

So that’s a good logistical reason why it doesn’t make sense, but the other reason is we don’t need any mediator between us and God.

1 Timothy 2:5 (ESV) is quite clear about that:

“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
I could go on and on and on, but I’ll keep this part short so I can get to the comment that stopped me dead in my tracks.

That comment is right here:

I tried to ignore this and just move on, but I can’t.

With all respect to LeoFarrell2966, if your view is that you need to get in good with Mary because she “has a lot of pull” in Heaven and “pull” over Jesus, you need a complete reshaping of your view of the supremacy of Jesus Christ.

You will not get to Heaven and send your lawyer over to have a chat with Jesus….

There is no one influencing the Throne in Heaven…

There are no backroom deals, or wink-wink, nudge-nudges….

With all due respect to LeoFarrell2966, may I very humbly suggest you watch this message from Louie Giglio to get a glimpse into what the ruling and reigning Jesus Christ looks like in Heaven.

This video is the first in a series called All Consuming Fire.

You do not exert “a lot of pull” over an all consuming fire….

You do not “sway” the reigning King of the Universe…

Louie does a better job than I possibly could, so just watch here and I think you’ll see what I mean:

Oh I know, he’s not a Catholic Priest and he’s not dressed up goofy robes and hats holding a goofy divining rod, and he’s not clutching his pearls (errrrr I mean “Rosary Beads”), but you might just want to look past all that stuff and watch this video.

Because if anyone reading this thinking Mary has “a lot of pull” over the reigning Jesus Christ in Heaven, you have absolutely no grasp of what it’s going to be like when you get there.

One more follow-up on the idea that anyone, even Mary, “has a lot of pull” in Heaven, is this message also from Louie Giglio.

You might want to watch this as well:

Catholics, I’m not here to pick a fight with you.

I’m just here to print truth.

And the truth is if you have a view of the risen and reigning Jesus Christ seated on his throne in Heaven that includes Mary exerting “a lot of pull” over him, respectfully that is woefully misguided at best and blasphemous at worse.

Jesus Reigns Supreme in Heaven and Eternity

1. Colossians 1:15–18 (ESV)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—
all things were created through him and for him.
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
And he is the head of the body, the church.
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,
that in everything he might be preeminent.
2. Philippians 2:9–11 (NASB)

For this reason also God highly exalted Him,
and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow,
of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
3. Hebrews 1:3–4 (NIV)

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being,
sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins,
he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
So he became as much superior to the angels
as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
4. Revelation 19:16 (ESV)

On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written,
King of kings and Lord of lords.
5. Ephesians 1:20–22 (NASB)

…He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
far above all rule and authority and power and dominion,
and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
And He put all things in subjection under His feet,
and made Him head over all things to the church.
6. Revelation 1:17–18 (ESV)

“Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one.
I died, and behold I am alive forevermore,
and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”
7. Matthew 28:18 (KJV)

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
8. Daniel 7:13–14 (Prophetic, KJV)

…behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven…
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom,
that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:
his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Here was my original report that started all of this in case you missed it:
