The governor of New Jersey has admitted that thousands and thousands of noncitizens were registered to vote in her state, and many of them actually voted, illegally, in a U.S. election, but it’s all the fault of a software error.
A report at Politico said Gov. Mikie Sherrill said more than 6,000 people who are not U.S. citizens were added to her state’s voter rolls.
She claimed it was minor because “fewer than 400” actually voted.
A Gateway Pundit comment pointed out Sherrill is an “emerging” star for the Democrats and her confirmation of the blunder “vindicates those who have pushed for the SAVE America Act and investigating voter fraud that has occurred in previous eletions.”
Sherrill’s online admission confirmed she recently learned of the disaster caused by an “error” in the software used by the state’s motor vehicles system.
“This ‘coincidentally’ occurred right in the midst of the 2024 election campaign. Sherrill, of course, tried to assure that the impact was ‘minor,'” the report said. “Last week I learned that a serious software error in New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle System led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated that they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, almost three years prior to my taking office.”
The confirmation comes amid an effort by the administration of President Donald Trump to crack down on illegal voting.
Sherrill, a Democrat, said the mistake happened during the application process for driver’s licenses and ID cards.
Thousands confirmed they were not citizens but were given voting rights in the state anyway.
Sherrill claimed there’s no immediate proof that any of the roughly 400 non-citizens who cast ballots impacted the outcome of any individual election, the report said.
“We have no evidence at this time that any elections were swayed,” she said.
She said, “It’s unacceptable that the vendor released software with such a glaring error, it’s unacceptable that the MVC took a year to get this issue fixed and it’s unacceptable that no one in the previous administration brought this to light, demanded accountability, or took action when it happened years ago.”
The reaction from the White House wasn’t a surprise. Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said, “Democrats and their media allies have repeatedly said it is impossible for noncitizens to register to vote, let alone cast a ballot. Time and again, they have been proven wrong. As President Trump has said, there is nothing more important than the integrity of our elections. And this latest incident underscores the absolute necessity of the SAVE America Act.”
Republicans in the state long have warned of such events, but have been blocked recently by leftist judge.
Sherrill suggested she would give a pass to those who voted illegally, and veered off-topic long enough to overlook President Trump’s call for election integrity and rant about how she thinks he was working to “undermine” the vote.
Said the Pundit, “If the Democratic governor of New Jersey is admitting that foreign nationals illegally voted in New Jersey elections, then one can bet this is just the tip of the iceberg. This also raises the question of whether voter fraud played a significant role in Kamala Harris winning the Garden State in 2024, which was unexpectedly close.”
