Embattled Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) is under an investigation by the Department of Justice, a source familiar confirmed to the Washington Examiner.

The FBI reportedly reached out to at least one person about Mills’s finances last year, according to MS NOW. The Washington Examiner has reached out to Mills for comment.

The DOJ investigation comes as the Florida Republican is also under a congressional investigation by the House Ethics Committee. The House panel has been investigating Mills since August 2024, and established an investigative subcommittee to further investigate Mills in November 2025.

The House inquiry includes a February 2025 incident where Mills was allegedly involved in a domestic violence incident.

Mills faced an expulsion threat from Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) earlier this year, who said in a statement at the time that “the swamp has protected Cory Mills for far too long.”

Mills has struggled with fundraising for his reelection bid this cycle, ending the second quarter with just $81,000 in the bank.
