BREAKING: Multiple People Injured in Shooting at Seattle Center

This is a developing story.

On Sunday evening, a gunman opened fire at an annual food festival being held at the Seattle Center in Washington state.

Multiple people were injured, although we don’t have exact numbers yet.

Police are currently investigating the shooting.

The Seattle Police Department released a brief statement on X:

Police are investigating a shooting. Multiple shooting victims. Shots fired at the Seattle Center. More information to come. Please avoid the area.

A livestreamer recording at the Bite of Seattle food festival captured the moment the gunman started shooting.

In the clip, the crowd could be seen running for cover after shots rang out.

Victims have been rushed to Harborview Medical Center, and the festival has been shut down.

KOMO has the latest update:

Large numbers of police and emergency crews began arriving in the area of Sue Bird Ct & Thomas St shortly after 6 p.m. Seattle Center was evacuated of guests as more police arrived.

No other details, including the number of victims or the extent of injuries, were immediately released by police.

Witnesses at the scene told KOMO News’ Jeremy Harris that the shooting happened at the Bite of Seattle event. Witnesses said they saw at least 6 people were shot, and a child seemed to be among them.

Harris also heard an officer say that a shooter was outstanding.

It appears like one person has been arrested in connection with the shooting, though details have not been confirmed yet.
