Under threat of a massive $1 billion lawsuit, the BBC just issued a formal apology to President Trump for manipulating his J6 speech to push a fake news narrative.

Days before the 2024 election, the BBC aired a clip that cut out a key part of President Trump’s speech at the Capitol on January 6th to make it look like he was calling for an insurrection.

For reference, here’s a comparison of the original clip vs. BBC’s doctored one:

Backup here if needed:

The BBC manipulated a video on J6, deceieving the public by making it look like Trump encouraged the "insurrection". It is Urgent to Subpoena the BBC NOW!!!!!! This Can Be the Silver Bullet That End Fakes News. pic.twitter.com/46DUSlMpNt

President Trump vowed to sue the BBC if they refused to retract the clip, apologize, and compensate him.

Now, the BBC has complied with his request for an apology.

However, they are also refusing to pay him any compensation.

Here are the details:

BREAKING: Groveling and afraid of a MASSIVE lawsuit payout, the BBC APOLOGIZES to President Trump for deceptively editing his Jan. 6th speech.

They cut out "cheer on congressmen and women" and replaced it with "fight like HELL" to make him sound violent. NOPE. LIES.

BREAKING: Groveling and afraid of a MASSIVE lawsuit payout, the BBC APOLOGIZES to President Trump for deceptively editing his Jan. 6th speech.

They cut out “cheer on congressmen and women” and replaced it with “fight like HELL” to make him sound violent. NOPE. LIES.

“It was an error of judgement, and the program will not be broadcast again in this form on any BBC platform.”

Two top executives have already resigned from the BBC, and Trump has fired off a lawsuit.

I think NOT ONLY the BBC should now help fund Trump’s presidential library for painting him out to be some “insurrectionist” – but they should be FORCED to every week run an apology and clarification that Trump did absolutely nothing wrong.

I can’t believe British taxpayers fund this crap!
The huge scandal over the deceptively-edited clip led to two top leaders at the BBC resigning.

BBC reported:

The BBC has apologised to US President Donald Trump for a Panorama episode that spliced parts of his 6 January 2021 speech together, but rejected his demands for compensation.

The corporation said the edit had given “the mistaken impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action” and said it would not show the 2024 programme again.

Lawyers for Trump have threatened to sue the BBC for $1bn (£759m) in damages unless the corporation issues a retraction, apologises and compensates him.

The fallout from the scandal led to the resignations of BBC director general Tim Davie and head of news Deborah Turness on Sunday…

In its Corrections and Clarifications section, published on Thursday evening, the BBC said the Panorama programme had been reviewed after criticism of how Trump’s speech had been edited.

“We accept that our edit unintentionally created the impression that we were showing a single continuous section of the speech, rather than excerpts from different points in the speech, and that this gave the mistaken impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action,” it said.

Lawyers for the BBC have written to President Trump’s legal team in response to a letter received on Sunday, a BBC spokesperson said.

“BBC chair Samir Shah has separately sent a personal letter to the White House making clear to President Trump that he and the corporation are sorry for the edit of the president’s speech on 6 January 2021, which featured in the programme,” they said.

They added: “While the BBC sincerely regrets the manner in which the video clip was edited, we strongly disagree there is a basis for a defamation claim.”

In Trump’s speech he said: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women.”

More than 50 minutes later in the speech, he said: “And we fight. We fight like hell.”

In the Panorama programme the clip shows him as saying: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol… and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell.”
Something tells me this isn’t going to be enough — especially seeing how the BBC was caught doing it again!

Yes, British news outlet The Telegraph recently reported on a second BBC segment where they aired another heavily-doctored version of President Trump’s J6 speech.

Watch this:

BREAKING: The Telegraph has revealed that the BBC edited Trump's speech A SECOND TIME on Newsnight!

They even ignored concerns that were raised about it. They deliberately misled the public.

It just gets worse for the BBC.

Now, this clip was not recent.

It aired back in 2022 and just re-surfaced in light of the recent BBC scandal.

More from Telegraph:

BBC Newsnight also doctored footage of a Donald Trump speech and ignored concerns that were raised about it, The Telegraph can reveal.

Spliced footage of the speech, which aired in an episode in 2022, made it appear that Mr Trump was encouraging his supporters to riot.

The edit was similar to a version aired in a Panorama documentary that was broadcast last year.

After The Telegraph exposed the doctored Panorama footage and other concerns about bias at the corporation, Tim Davie, the director-general, and Deborah Turness, the chief executive of BBC News, both resigned.

The BBC apologised to Mr Trump on Thursday evening after the US president threatened to sue the corporation for as much as $1bn (£760m) if it did not do so over the Panorama video.

The broadcaster said it “sincerely regrets the manner in which the video clip was edited”, adding: “We strongly disagree there is a basis for a defamation claim.”

Samir Shah, the BBC chairman, wrote a separate letter of apology to the president and the programme will not be aired again, a spokesman said.

In response to the latest revelations, a spokesman for Mr Trump’s legal team said it was “now clear that BBC engaged in a pattern of defamation against President Trump”.

Like Panorama, the Newsnight edit made it look as if the US president had urged supporters to walk to the Capitol building with him to “fight like hell” by linking statements made nearly an hour apart in his speech.

A former White House chief of staff criticised the BBC on air at the time for “splicing” the footage, but his concerns were ignored by Kirsty Wark, the Newsnight presenter.
Still, the fact that this happened not once, but twice, is inexcusable.

It reveals an intentional pattern that President Trump should not let slide that easily.
