President Trump isn’t letting the outrage from critics stop him.

The US military is about to unleash firepower against land-based Cartel targets ‘equivalent’ to what we’ve been seeing on the water.

The US military is about to start targeting ground-based Cartel operations, according to revelations made by President Trump during an Oval Office briefing with WH press yesterday.

When asked whether he even had the authority to hit the drug boats heading to the US out over the open water, he doubled-down.

Not only does he — but he announced that he fully intends to start hitting ground targets; which may include hitting the Cartels on their home turf.

According to the President, that authority comes under the auspices of it being a national security issue.

Here’s a clip shared by Fox News of his comments which include his overall rationale for the campaign we’ve seen ratcheting up against the smuggling operations:

That comes on the heels of the second strike that targeted a narco-smuggling boat in the Pacific.

Up until a day ago, all previous boats targeted by the US military in this campaign against drug smugglers occurred in the Caribbean.

Secretary of War Hegseth announced that strike not long before the President opened up about hitting land based targets.

Here’s the unclassified video Hegseth shared of that most recent strike, which he reported took out two narco-terrorists:

NEW: Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced the U.S. military carried out another lethal strike on a drug boat being operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization conducting narco-trafficking in the Eastern Pacific Tuesday.

President Trump also hinted that his next moves against the Cartels on land will be eye-catching.

While he said the Administration would be informing Congress of his next actions, he emphasized that it was purely to keep them in the loop.

And not, rather, because he needed Congressional permission to strike those targets, according to this coverage of the President’s comments from Fox News:

Speaking from the Oval Office on Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump said the U.S. will “hit” drug smugglers attempting to enter the U.S. by land after a series of lethal strikes on cartel boats at sea.

The president was questioned about his use of military force to crack down on drug smugglers in the Caribbean and Pacific following the eighth such strike in recent weeks.

Trump said, after these strikes, “there are very few boats traveling on the water, so now they’ll come in by land to a lesser extent.

“And they will be hit on land also.”

Pressed on whether he has legal authority to unleash strikes on drug smugglers on U.S. territory, Trump answered confidently, “Yes, we do.”

“We will hit them very hard when they come in by land. They haven’t experienced that yet, but now we’re totally prepared to do that.”

“Something very serious is going to happen. The equivalent of what’s happening by sea. And we’re going to Congress just to tell them what we’re doing, just to keep them informed. But we have to do it for national security. We have to do it to save lives.” (Emphasis added.)
So far, President Trump isn’t blinking in the face of those clamoring over whether or not he has the authority to strike those boats.

Hegseth’s comments from over a month ago — which followed the initial boat strikes — echo the President’s words from yesterday and show no variance in the Administration’s stance over the last month.

Here’s how Hegseth confidently handled a question on that issue back at the beginning of the first few strikes:

"I'd say we smoked a drug boat and there's 11 narco-terrorists at the bottom of the ocean — and when other people try to do that, they're gonna meet the same fate."

You can contrast Hegseth’s words from a month ago with President Trump’s words yesterday, with basically no variance.

And his Secretary of State, sitting next to him in the Oval Office yesterday, intoned the same confidence as Hegseth when he chimed in following the revelation that ground targets were on the agenda.

Here’s Rubio spitting fiery facts after the President prodded him to chime in at yesterday’s event on the question of authority:

As I was researching this story, trying to keep the flow of events clear — because things are developing so fast

I realized President Trump actually confirmed he would be going after ground targets several days earlier!

His earlier comments came following a New York Times story on the alleged greenlight President Trump gave for covert CIA operations inside Venezuela.

In the drama surrounding that news, the President’s open declaration that he’d be ordering strikes against targets on the ground mostly went unreported!

Essentially, since the sea-based strikes have been so effective in stopping the flow of drugs over water, the obvious next move is to bottle things up from coming in by overland routes.

He also addressed the subtle hint by a reporter that Venezuela’s leader, Maduro, could possibly be on the list of potential targets, as reported last week by USA Today:

“We are certainly looking at land now because we’ve got the sea very well under control,” Trump told reporters Oct. 15.

Trump made the remarks after The New York Times reported the Trump administration has secretly authorized the CIA to conduct covert action in Venezuela in an escalation of its campaign against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s regime.

Trump confirmed the report, saying the action is in response to Venezuelan migrants and drugs entering the United States.

“A lot of the Venezuelan drugs come in through the sea, so you get to see that, but we’re going to stop them by land also,” Trump said.

Trump did not specify locations for potential strikes on land targets.

Asked by a reporter whether the CIA has the authority to “take out” Maduro, Trump responded: “Wouldn’t it be a ridiculous question for me to answer? But I think Venezuela is feeling heat.”

Trump in February designated some drug cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations,” a move administration officials argue gives them legal justification for the strikes.
The ‘heat’ that President Trump mentioned being felt by Maduro probably went up a few degrees following that intentionally cryptic non-answer.

I’m finding myself wondering if Maduro could be on that list of targets myself.

Particularly after hearing Marco Rubio bring up the fact so strongly with reporters just last night!

Rubio pointed out that Maduro is technically a WANTED MAN — with an indictment against him already waiting in the wings in the US!

Here’s what Rubio had to say about Maduro that has me pondering if the Venezuelan leader may be at the TOP of that targeting list:

I can’t find anything specifying exactly which targets the Trump Administration has in mind.

The most they have specified is drug smugglers, and Cartels.

And the President has only vaguely hinted that Maduro’s photo could be pinned to some corkboard in a Special Operations briefing room floating somewhere off the coast of Venezuela.

But we do know that top tier Special Operations Forces are included in the buildup.

And we know, thanks to this report from Task & Purpose, that one particular ‘mothership’ known to carry a large contingent of rough dudes ready to do bad things to bad people is floating along somewhere within reach of Maduro:

That video is a deep dive into the shadowy ship known as the MV Ocean Trader which is currently prowling around the Caribbean.

If Maduro even has the guts [should read STUPIDITY] to carry a cell phone… I can just imagine videos like that probably keep him up at night with hellish visions of Noriega dancing in his head.

The argument of whether President Trump does or does not have the authority to conduct these strikes without something approximating a true Declaration of War by Congress continues to simmer.

Meanwhile, according to the President’s own words, ‘something very serious’ is about to kick off on land.

What that will actually look like still remains somewhat of a mystery, even though President Trump described it as ‘equivalent’ to the sea-based strikes.

But one thing we now know for sure – the question of whether or not the kinetic portion of President Trump’s campaign against the Cartels will expand to striking targets on the ground has been answered.

Now… we wait.

And we’ll bring you the details of the fight over authority as it plays out, as well as anything exploding in Maduro’s immediate zone of influence — if and when it happens.
