Trump Administration ENDS Cruel Experiments On Beagles at NIH

In a huge win for dog lovers (or truly, anyone with a heart), the National Institutes of Health has shut down all government research labs that were used to conduct deadly drug experiments on dogs.

The notorious labs performed disturbing experiments on beagles — a breed chosen for their docile nature.

Over the course of 40 years, scientists pumped pneumonia-causing bacteria into over 2,000 beagles’ lungs in order to conduct experiments on septic shock and organ failure.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was head of the NIH for much of that time, signed off on the cruel experiments.

Current NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya just announced that the very last beagle experimentation lab has closed its doors for good:

Bhattacharya’s announcement comes just days after Elon Musk promised to investigate the cruel beagle experimentation labs, in a reply to an X post from Laura Loomer:

This marks an end to the long battle to end the beagle torture at these labs.

The New York Post has more details on the cruel beagle experimentation, and the fight to end it:

Beagle experimentation at the NIH lab had been a deeply controversial practice, drawing outrage from multiple members of Congress and scrutiny from the White Coat Waste Project watchdog group, which fights against animal experimentation.

WCW had uncovered federal experiments in which scientists cut into beagles to finagle tubing into their lungs so that they could pump deadly pneumonia-causing bacteria in there and conduct experiments related to septic shock as well as organ failure.

After about four days, any surviving dog would be put down and then stashed inside a refrigerator.

At least 2,133 died during this process, and the government was estimated to have forked over between $1,000 and $1,500 per beagle from Envigo’s puppy mill in Cumberland, Va.

“As the watchdog that first uncovered and battled Dr. Fauci’s beagle tests (the biggest animal testing scandal in history), we’re proud that White Coat Waste has closed the NIH’s last in-house beagle laboratory following a hard-fought nine-year-long campaign,” WCW founder and President Anthony Bellotti, a former Republican strategist, said in a statement.

The WCW credited President Trump for getting these sick animal torture labs closed for good.

Per Fox News:

A report from the White Coat Waste (WCW) project detailed the lab’s history of allegedly pumping pneumonia-causing bacteria into more than 2,000 beagles’ lungs, bleeding them out, and forcing them into septic shock for deadly experiments.

Following the announcement, WCW president and founder Anthony Bellotti praised President Donald Trump for ending the highly scrutinized project.

“Taxpayers and pet owners shouldn’t be forced to pay for the NIH’s beagle abuse,” Bellotti wrote in a statement. “We applaud the President for cutting this wasteful NIH spending and will keep fighting until we defund all dog labs at home and abroad. The solution is simple: Stop the money. Stop the madness!”

Shortly after the Trump administration took office, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced in April it would phase out an animal testing requirement for antibody therapies and other drugs in favor of testing on materials that mimic human organs.

Under President Trump, even dogs are safer.
