Not that you would notice, but apparently President Trump ‘ALWAYS WINS’ when the US Supreme Court gets to decide the fate of his agenda.
That’s according to Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
I know President Trump has essentially cornered the market on WINNING.
But you can also count plenty of times that the Supreme Court would easily be classified under the very same umbrella as the rogue judiciary that frequently runs amok, destroying President Trump’s agenda from the lower district courts.
However, eventually the most basic principles of reality often rise to the surface after the messy process of Supreme Court deliberations.
And they have definitely handed President Trump a HUGE set of wins over the last few months, even if at first… the end result seemed often in question.
But by all accounts what Justice Jackson wants is a complete judicial blockade of President Trump’s agenda.
Anything short of that MUST BE labeled as bending over backwards to grant the Trump Administration some special status outside the realm of normal jurisprudence.
And in a recent dissenting opinion, Justice Jackson let those thoughts have their full expression.
She basically threw the Supreme Court as a whole under the proverbial bus, claiming the high court is currently nothing but an extension of the Trump Administration:
The case that really got her stirred up was the decision of the court to side with President Trump in his ability to cancel grants being issued through the NIH for tons of very progressive-leaning purposes.Jackson goes off in dissent, makes partisan allegation about colleagues helping Trump administration https://t.co/wsj9FYY8LL

With the majority of the court siding against her — and FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP — she equated the court’s decision to simply playing political favorites, according to this Fox News report:
For all the jokes about President Trump living rent free in so-and-so’s head…Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson criticized on Thursday what she said were the “recent tendencies” of the Supreme Court to side with the Trump administration, providing her remarks in a bitter dissent in a case related to National Institutes of Health grants.
Jackson, a Biden appointee, rebuked her colleagues for “lawmaking” on the shadow docket, where an unusual volume of fast, preliminary decision-making has taken place related to the hundreds of lawsuits President Donald Trump’s administration has faced.
“This is Calvinball jurisprudence with a twist. Calvinball has only one rule: There are no fixed rules. We seem to have two: that one, and this Administration always wins,” Jackson wrote.
The liberal justice pointed to the Oxford English Dictionary’s definition of Calvinball, which describes it as the practice of applying rules inconsistently for self-serving purposes.
Jackson, the high court’s most junior justice, said the majority “[bent] over backwards to accommodate” the Trump administration by allowing the NIH to cancel about $783 million in grants that did not align with the administration’s priorities.
Some of the grants were geared toward research on diversity, equity and inclusion; COVID-19; and gender identity. Jackson argued the grants went far beyond that and that “life-saving biomedical research” was at stake.
“So, unfortunately, this newest entry in the Court’s quest to make way for the Executive Branch has real consequences, for the law and for the public,” Jackson wrote.
It turns out he really does own an apartment in Justice Jackson’s brain!
And just think — President Trump still has YEARS left of WINNING ahead of him from the Oval Office!
About a month ago, Justice Jackson answered a question during a public event concerning how the process of writing dissenting opinions from the court actually works.
Her answer is very telling.
She explained the “pure mechanics” of the system by which court opinions, both from the majority and minority perspectives, is hashed out.
That’s how things are SUPPOSED to work.
But then she explained how she so often winds up breaking off from the normal operation of the court…
And issues her own dissenting opinion any-old-time she apparently feels like it!
Check out how that works in her own words:
Her answer can literally be summed up into something like… if she wants to, she does.
Isn’t that the very definition of inconsistency by constantly breaking away from the normal operation of the court?
I wonder — does she even own a mirror?
On one hand, this is almost a ‘feel good’ piece.
President Trump lives rent free in Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s head!?
But there’s another side to this coin which involves the seriousness of the accusations being leveled.
Whether you take her seriously or not, she’s a sitting Supreme Court Justice.
Her words do matter.
And she is effectively casting doubt on the legitimacy of the highest court in the land, describing it as a sham.
That sets a dangerous precedent for how easily someone who actually has a seat at that table can decide to veer away from the norms of the judicial review process…
And go straight to mudslinging.
Thankfully, a familiar name within conservative circles had something to say on this very topic.
Justice Jackson’s attack on her own court only exposes her tendencies towards exactly the inconsistent application of the rules that she is charging others with, as reported by conservative Jonathan Turley in his recent article in The Hill:
As Jonathan Turley expressed, Jackson’s dissenting opinions are often so far-reaching from logic that even her liberal compatriots will not sign on to her post-ruling opinions!“I just feel that I have a wonderful opportunity.”
Those words of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson came in a recent interview, wherein the justice explained how she felt liberated after becoming a member of the Supreme Court “to tell people in my opinions how I feel about the issues. And that’s what I try to do.”
Jackson’s sense of liberation has increasingly become the subject of consternation on the court itself, as she unloads on her colleagues in strikingly strident opinions.
Most recently, Jackson went ballistic after her colleagues reversed another district court judge who issued a sweeping injunction barring the Trump Administration from canceling roughly $783 million in grants in the National Institutes of Health.
Again writing alone, Jackson unleashed a tongue-lashing on her colleagues, who she suggested were unethical, unthinking cutouts for Trump.
For some of us who have followed Jackson’s interestingly controversial tenure on the court, it was crushingly ironic. Although Jackson accused her colleagues of following a new rule that they must always rule with Trump, she herself is widely viewed as the very embodiment of the actual rule of the made-up game based on the comic strip of Calvin and Hobbes. In Jacksonian jurisprudence, it often seems like there are no fixed rules, only fixed outcomes. She then attacks her colleagues for a lack of integrity or empathy.
To quote Calvin, Jackson proves that “there’s no problem so awful that you can’t add some guilt to it and make it even worse.”
Jackson has attacked her colleagues in opinions, shattering traditions of civility and restraint. Her colleagues have clearly had enough. She now regularly writes diatribes that neither of her fellow liberals — Justices Sonia Sotomayor or Elena Kagan — are willing to sign on to. Indeed, she has raged against opinions that her liberal colleagues have joined.
Considering those ‘years’ that President Trump still has in office — Lord willing — the animosity Justice Jackson is creating may find her even further banished to the realm of independent dissent.
If President Trump’s tendency towards WINNING is the problem…
She might want to buckle in good and tight.
Because it doesn’t seem as though he’s finished doing so quite yet.
In fact, it appears he is just getting warmed up.
