People still have their panties in a twist over the Starbucks incident. In case you missed it, two men were arrested for sitting in Starbucks without ordering anything. The outrage comes because they had dark skin. Maybe the barista really was a racist — that's for Starbucks to figure out and deal with. Meanwhile, social justice dolts are boycotting the business.
Well, turns out the company is dealing with it now. By forcing thousands of their stores to undergo special “don't be a racist” training.
Perhaps a tad overkill.
Starbucks plans to close more than 8,000 locations next month so employees can receive racial bias education after two black men were arrested at one of the chain's stores, the company announced Tuesday.
The announcement comes one day after Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson met with the men who were arrested Thursday while they waited for a friend at a cafe in Philadelphia. Protests broke out on Monday, and demonstrators said the arrests were indicative of institutional racism.
Training would aim to address implicit bias, teach employees how to prevent discrimination and promote conscious inclusion. Employees will receive the training on and the stores will close for the afternoon of May 29.
An appropriate response would have been to investigate the incident and hold the employee responsible for any wrongdoing. Maybe issue a statement. Instead, Starbucks is scrambling to maintain their #wokeness in a sorry display of desperation.
Their new statement offers plenty of chuckle fodder. Naturally, we looked to the internet for the best responses. As per usual, Twitter was a treasure trove of opinions and hot takes. Some responses said Starbucks still isn't doing enough, others mocked them. Even Black Lives Matter leaders with blue checkmarks chimed in. All of it is delightfully hilarious. Enjoy!

Ask yourself why Starbucks would need to close 8000 stores rather than simply rotate their current & incoming staff at satellite locations for training or paid retreats?
This is a stunt move to squash a boycott.

If other companies are smart, they find out what this Starbucks anti-discrimination curriculum is and look into pre-emptively implementing it. Don't wait for an incident to occur. Also, the problem can't be solved in an afternoon training. Use it as a step, not a salve.

No matter which way you slice it, Starbucks caved to the pitchfork-swinging, shower-avoiding mob. One expects such an ultra left company to do so. This is the same fate many liberal puppets are doomed to endure: Starbucks is being devoured by its own. You'll see no tears shed for them here. I'd say it's well deserved, seeing as Starbucks' spines are weaker than a light roast decaf Keurig pod.
Also they're always out of cold brew. Failures.
