Secretary of War Pete Hegseth just confirmed that Andrew Hugg, the U.S. Army’s Branch Chief for Chemical Nuclear Surety, has been fired.
Recently, Andrew Hugg was caught on hidden camera divulging classified information during a restaurant date with a total stranger he met on a dating app.
In an undercover video captured by James O’Keefe’s investigative team, Hugg revealed several military secrets, including:

Hugg described how the United States could assassinate Iran’s next leader if he “doesn’t change,” while admitting the U.S. has no plans to use nuclear weapons: “We’re not going to nuke anybody.”
All of this was casually revealed to an undercover journalist in a restaurant. This raises serious questions about this official’s judgment, security, and what’s really happening behind closed doors.

Hugg had led this specific branch since at least August 2024, as listed on his LinkedIn profile, which was quietly removed after the incident. He now finds himself at the center of an undercover video released by O’Keefe Media Group, a conservative-leaning investigative outlet, that alleges a breach of more than just social etiquette.
The Army confirmed on April 21, 2026, that it placed Mr. Hugg on administrative leave while it conducts a thorough investigation into the matter. This followed the release of footage described as running roughly fourteen minutes, a figure the U.S. government has not independently confirmed. What makes this story land differently from the average Washington scandal is what Hugg actually does for a living, because that detail changes everything.
