Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent just responded to the Supreme Court’s ruling on President Trump’s tariffs today.
While delivering remarks on the economy in Dallas, Bessent clarified what exactly the Supreme Court ruling does, and what it doesn’t do.
Essentially, the Supreme Court ruled that President Trump’s tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) are invalid.
However, there are still many other avenues the president can take to impose sweeping, global tariffs.
Secretary Bessent said that he and President Trump already prepared for this outcome with alternative options.
He confidently confirmed that these other routes used to implement tariffs will lead to “virtually unchanged tariff revenue in 2026.”
Bessent gave a great explanation on how this will work, which you can watch right here:

In other words, the Supreme Court ruling may have made things a little more complicated, but tariffs are here to stay.JUST IN: Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent just STUNNED the “Experts,” he and Trump have been making big plans and it’s FULL-STEAM AHEAD
Tariff revenue will be unchanged in 2026. Boom.
“Let’s be clear about what today’s ruling WAS and what it WASN’T. Despite the misplaced GLOATING from Democrats, ill-informed media outlets, and the very people who gutted our industrial base, the Court did not rule against President Trump’s tariffs.”
“Six justices simply ruled that IEEPA authorities cannot be used to raise even $1 of revenue.”
“This administration will invoke alternative legal authorities to replace the IEEPA tariffs.”
“We will be leveraging Section 232 and Section 301 tariff authorities that have been validated through thousands of legal challenges.”
“Treasury’s estimates show that the use of Section 122 authority, combined with potentially enhanced Section 232 and Section 301 tariffs, will result in virtually unchanged tariff revenue in 2026.”
In fact, President Trump already announced a global 10% tariff under Section 122, which Bessent mentioned in clip above.

Once again, Democrats celebrated too soon and President Trump has them outsmarted!
He's always one step ahead.
