After President Trump won November’s election, Kamala Harris called him to concede.

Apparently dreading the call, Kamala waited until a full day after Election Night to place the phone call. She probably expected President Trump to gloat and rub in her loss.

However, according to a new book written by Chris Whipple titled Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History, President Trump was very gracious on the phone.

“I’m calling to concede. It was a fair election. The peaceful transfer of power is important. It’s important to the country,” Kamala allegedly told President Trump. Then, she added in a snide little remark, “I hope you’re president for all Americans.”

Instead of responding with a jab of his own, President Trump took it in stride.

“You’re a tough cookie. You were really great,” he told Kamala, before complimenting her husband, “And that Doug — what a character! I love that guy.”

What Trump Said to Kamala During Her Concession Call That Left One of Her Aides Livid: ‘He’s a Sociopath’ https://t.co/LDb3m6ia1M

The New York Post reported:

Donald Trump caught former Vice President Kamala Harris and her aides off guard when the typically abrasive president politely praised her as a “tough cookie” and congratulated her on running a “great” campaign when she called him to concede his victory in the 2024 election, according to a new book.

“I’m calling to concede. It was a fair election. The peaceful transfer of power is important. It’s important to the country,” Harris reportedly told Trump on the phone the day after the election, according to author Chris Whipple‘s new book “Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History.”

However, she could not help but take a light jab at the divisive president-elect at the time, adding “I hope you’re president for all Americans.”

Instead of taking that comment personally and snapping back, however, Trump was cordial and even praised Harris’ late-entry campaign as he basked in his historic win, according to Whipple.

“You’re a tough cookie. You were really great. And that Doug — what a character! I love that guy,” the now-president said, referring to Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff.
President Trump very well could have ridiculed Kamala Harris over the defeat during her concession call.

Instead, he took the high road. That’s an admirable trait in a leader.

And, apparently, it made Kamala’s team even angrier.

One of Harris’ aides interpreted President Trump’s politeness in a very strange way, calling him a “sociopath.”

You just can’t win with these people.

Key insights from Trump/Harris concession call:

  1. Harris staff barely able to use a phone
  2. Harris aide interprets Trump being gracious to Kamala as ‘manipulative,’ and calls him a ‘sociopath”

There were also apparent ‘technical issues’ that almost prevented the call from happening entirely, with Kamala’s phone unable to connect to President Trump’s phone at first.

Per Daily Mail:

The call went sideways, both in its setup and what Trump said to Harris, leading one of her top aides to think: ‘He’s a sociopath.’

Harris waited to call Trump until the day after the election, with the chat being set up at the vice president’s Naval Observatory home in Washington D.C. by her campaign Chief of Staff Sheila Nix, and her White House Chief of Staff Lorraine Voles.

‘Nix called the president-elect on her cell phone – but for some reason couldn’t merge the call with the vice president’s phone,’ Whipple wrote. ‘So Voles called Harris on hers – and she and Nix pressed the phones together.’

Voles then informed Trump: ‘The vice president is on the line.’

‘Harris respectfully addressed the man she’d called a fascist and an existential threat to democracy,’ Whipple continued.

The vice president, who had been thrust to the top of the Democratic ticket in late July, ‘felt the weight of the crushing defeat,’ he described.

‘But unlike Trump four years earlier, she was respecting the election result,’ Whipple noted.

Harris told Trump on the call: ‘I’m calling to concede. It was a fair election. The peaceful transfer of power is important. It’s important to the country.’

‘And then she added, pointedly, “I hope you’re a president for all Americans,”‘ Whipple wrote.

But it’s how Trump reacted to Harris’ concession that raised eyebrows.

‘If Trump detected any edge to that remark he didn’t show it. In fact, the president-elect was weirdly cordial and complimentary – bantering as though he were on the golf course,’ Whipple wrote.

Trump told Harris that she was ‘great.’

‘You’re a tough cookie. You were really great. And that Doug – what a character! I love that guy,’ the now-president reportedly said of his rival’s husband Doug Emhoff.

One of Harris’ aides, Whipple wrote, found this ‘odd and inappropriate. ‘I was like, what?’ she recalled. ‘Honestly, I felt like, what is this? It’s so manipulative. He’s a sociopath.’
