When it comes to the debacle surrounding Brett Kavanaugh, all the Left had to do was just be honest with the American people. All they had to admit to everyone watching this circus unfold was that they didn't give less of a care in the world about Christine Blasey Ford or whether or not Kavanaugh was guilty. Finding the truth, which is already a naive undertaking given the circumstances, was never the actual goal here. But if that's true, it begs the question: what was the goal?
Now that the show is finally over, it's actually become quite clear as to what it was: to win the war of partisanship.
There is not a single reality that exists in which Brett Kavanaugh, a mainstream pro-life conservative, was going to be confirmed for the Supreme Court unanimously. So when Democrats say that there should have been a longer, most extensive FBI investigation before the voting took place, just know that they were lying. No investigation, no matter how long or how conclusive they were in maintaining Brett Kavanaugh's innocence, would have changed their minds. They were never going to vote for him in the first place.
And let's be very clear about two things:
- The Democrats never cared about Christine Blasey Ford. They only cared about what she was willing to claim. Otherwise, why would her anonymity have been compromised? Why was she given the absolute moral authority to make whatever claims she wanted without a shred of evidence to support any of it? It's all because Democrats saw this as an opportunity to grandstand in front of the entire nation and bolster their public images before the Congressional midterms.
- The Democrats never cared about determining Kavanaugh's innocence or guilt. In their eyes, he was guilty the moment the allegations were made. No investigation, even one requested by Kavanaugh himself (which never made any sense anyway), would have changed their minds on that. In a post MeToo world where “Believe all Women” now seems to be the guiding principle of legal jurisprudence, Democrats simply seized the opportunity to drag a man's name, reputation, and (most despicably) his family through the mud in hopes that the Supreme Court seat would remain vacant until their party seized the reins of power once more.
By voting to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, the Republicans gave their Democratic opposition the biggest middle finger possible since the election of Donald Trump in 2016. And truth be told, they deserved it.
