This is a bit unusual.

A new report by CNN has revealed President Trump and Vice President JD Vance were not invited to former Vice President Dick Cheney’s funeral.

Despite former presidents George W. Bush and Joe Biden getting an invite to the funeral the sitting President and Vice President were not extended an invite.

CNN broke the story of Trump and Vance not getting an invite:

Past presidents and politicians of both parties will gather Thursday in Washington, DC, for former Vice President Dick Cheney’s funeral — sending off a key figure of pre-MAGA Republican politics.

But neither President Donald Trump nor Vice President JD Vance were invited to Cheney’s funeral, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Cheney will receive full military honors at the memorial service, which is expected to be a bipartisan who’s who of Washington dignitaries.

More than 1,000 guests are expected at the invitation-only funeral Thursday morning at Washington’s National Cathedral — including all four living former vice presidents and two former presidents.

Former presidents George W. Bush and Joe Biden will pay their respects, along with former vice presidents Kamala Harris, Mike Pence, Al Gore and Dan Quayle. There are also expected to be a number of Supreme Court Justices, including Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Elena Kagan. A large number of past and present Cabinet members from both Republican and Democratic administrations will also attend, as well as congressional leaders from both sides of the aisle.Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi is expected to attend along with Senate Majority Leader John Thune and former leader Mitch McConnell.

The New York Post noted Trump did not offer any condolences for Cheney:

The White House offered no public condolences Tuesday on the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney — saying flags were lowered to half-staff at the executive mansion because the law requires it.

President Trump has repeatedly attacked Cheney, who died Monday at age 84, as a “warmonger” and sparred with his daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) who served as the top Republican on the House select committee that investigated Trump’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Both Dick and Liz Cheney endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris in last year’s election, with the former VP saying Trump was the greatest threat to the country since its founding.

“Last I checked, the president had not commented on the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Is the White House involved in the funeral arrangements in any way?” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked during her regular briefing.

Leavitt tersely replied: “I don’t believe the White House is involved in that planning, or at least hasn’t gotten to it yet. I know the president is aware of the former vice president’s passing, and as you saw, flags have been lowered to half staff in according to a statutory law.”
