In a moment that evokes memories of the 9/11 attacks of nearly a quarter-century ago, footage out of Brazil this week shows the moment a plane crashes into the side of a residential building, reportedly killing both the pilot and co-pilot while seriously injuring at least some of the passengers aboard the small aircraft.
Fortunately for residents of the adjacent apartments, officials say the plane landed “in the stairwell” and avoided the occupied units located on either side.
The Daily Caller provided additional details:
The footage was shared widely across social media, along with an array of commentary:Video of the crash provided by TV GLOBO shows the plane turning and then striking the side of the residential building. Brazilian outlet Itatiaia obtained a copy of the footage and shared it on YouTube, where it has been viewed over 300 times as of publication.
The plane was identified as an EMB-721C, according to records from the National Civil Aviation Agency, Globo.com reported. The plane can carry up to five passengers.
The crash is under an active investigation by the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents, the Third Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents, and the Civil Police of Minas Gerais. The fire department is also supporting the investigation.
The passengers who survived the crash were taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to Globo.com.

CENIPA is going to pay dearly for these images… It’s going to help a ton with the investigation. I’ve never seen an accident caught on camera so far in advance like this.
