In a shot at Elon Musk, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel disingenuously cautioned his audience not to vandalize Tesla vehicles.
“Our co-president, Elon Musk, sent a Space X vehicle to bring the astronauts back and when they landed he fired them, immediately upon landing. Tesla stock is way down, almost disastrously so,” he said, bringing cheers from the audience.’’
“People have been vandalizing Tesla vehicles, new Tesla vehicles,” he stated, then said with mock seriousness, “Please don’t vandalize. Don’t ever vandalize Tesla vehicles.” After a dramatic pause from Kimmel, the audience began to laugh.
Kimmel continued, “And so, Elon Musk has been making the rounds in the right-wing media, trying to appear to be a human being. Yesterday he was guest of honor on the Ted Cruz podcast, where sweaty Teddy, who seems — everything he seems to know about technology seems to come from movies he’s seen. Ted asked Elon about the dangers of AI.”
Cruz asked what the likelihood would be of “killer robots annihilating humanity.” Musk answered, “20% likely. Maybe 10%.” When Cruz asked, “On what time-frame,” Musk replied, “5 to 10 years.”
“He’s gonna try to get that down to three,” Kimmel commented.
Kimmel’s attack on Musk likely stems from his seemingly visceral hatred for President Donald Trump. After Trump was elected, Kimmel literally cried on his show, moaning, “It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country go, for health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech. … I’ve been trying to come up with something positive, the best I can come up with is we’ve been through this once before and yes this time it’s probably gonna be worse, maybe a lot worse.”
Kimmel also implied Trump voters were stupid, saying, “I’m disappointed, I know a lot of you are too. I thought common sense would prevail. I’m so stupid, I always think it’s gonna but for a lot of people, this just isn’t important. It’s not high on their list.”
