Iran Attacks U.S. Navy Base In Bahrain

The headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain has been targeted by Iranian missiles.

The New York Times further reported that witnesses in Juffair, near the U.S. Navy’s base in Bahrain, heard a loud explosion, and videos have since surfaced of a missile striking what appears to be the headquarters.

Stars and Stripes reported what kind of damage has occurred so far:

Plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the U.S. base here Saturday after Iranian forces said they targeted the headquarters of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command.

Shortly after the U.S. announced major combat operations in Iran this morning, military personnel and residents were warned about an incoming missile attack. Within minutes, explosions could be heard across the city.

The attacks have continued for hours. Multiple explosions rocked the capital of Manama on Saturday afternoon, as air raid warning sirens blared and armored vehicles convoyed along roads.

No U.S. casualties have been reported, a U.S. official said at about 1:45 p.m. Bahrain time on Saturday, roughly two hours after the strikes began.

Nearby observers reported thick black smoke and fire at a large building on base. Other structures have also sustained damage, observers said.

Fox News confirmed what type of building was hit:

A U.S. official tells Fox News the strikes on Iran are expected to last for days — not just a few hours.

The official and another source also confirmed to Fox News that there were no casualties from Iran’s strike on a U.S. Navy base in Bahrain. The missile hit an empty warehouse.
