FBI Director Kash Patel just made a giant announcement.

In a huge win for ending the fentanyl crisis plaguing our nation, the pipeline to create the deadly drug has just been shut down!

Specifically, the Trump administration has struck a very important deal with China — one of the world’s largest illicit drug producers — to stop the flow of fentanyl into Mexico, and subsequently, the U.S.

For their part, China has agreed to designate all fentanyl precursors in their country.

In addition, China will restrict seven chemical subsidiaries used to make fentanyl.

“Effective immediately, President Trump has shut off the pipeline that creates fentanyl that kills tens of thousands of Americans! These substances are now BANNED and they will no longer be utilized by the Mexican drug trafficking organizations or any other DTOs around the world to make this drug!”

“The Chinese government agreed on a plan to stop fentanyl precursors. What does that mean? The People’s Republic of China has fully designated and listed ALL 13 precursors utilized to make fentanyl.”

“They have agreed to control 7 chemical subsidiaries that are also utilized to produce this lethal drug.”

“This historic achievement has saved tens of thousands of lives. This historic achievement would not have been possible without the tremendous team of President Trump, the Attorney General, the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Ambassador Perdue in China.”

Fentanyl is responsible for killing around 100,000 Americans per year.

China’s agreement to target the precursors is a gigantic step towards stopping these needless deaths for good.

The amazing deal comes after Kash Patel visited China and met with officials about the fentanyl crisis.

He also said that President Trump’s recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping was key to securing the deal.

After Patel met with his Chinese counterparts, the Chinese government agreed to designate all 13 precursors and to control seven chemical subsidiaries used to make the lethal drug that has been blamed for thousands of American deaths each year, the FBI director announced at a White House press briefing on Wednesday.

“This was a historic trip for the FBI and America’s national security – the first time in a decade that an FBI Director has been to China and received an audience with his counterpart to discuss the fentanyl crisis,” Patel said in an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital. “The crisis doesn’t start at America’s borders – it starts with the flow of chemical precursors and the networks that move them. President Trump instructed his team to use all tools at our disposal to work with partners and cut off the precursor pipelines at their origin – and that’s what we accomplished.

“The FBI reached an agreement with the government of China to have 13 precursors listed and 7 chemicals restricted, a victory that will ultimately crush fentanyl traffickers and save so many American lives for generations to come,” he added. “We are dismantling the infrastructure that fuels this crisis at its source. By targeting those flows and dismantling supply chains before they ever reach our hemisphere, we’re saving American lives, strengthening our alliances, and building a secure future.”

Patel also credited President Donald Trump’s recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“This was only possible due to President Trump’s historic engagement with President XI just a few short weeks ago that set the stage for today’s announcement,” he said.

During his visit, Patel met with Chinese Vice Minister of Public Security Xu Datong to discuss law enforcement issues and follow-up on key outcomes of the meeting between Trump and Xi in Busan, South Korea last month. Xu and Patel discussed the implementation of China’s commitment to take action that will save American lives by stopping the flow of dangerous chemicals fueling the fentanyl crisis.

Upon returning from his highly-successful trip to China, Patel also released this statement on X:

I’ve said before: targeting the precursors is the key – this is the agent that turns fentanyl into a deadly chemical that destroys lives. Cut off the precursors and you crush the drug trafficking industry and starve critical deadly drug pipelines fueled by cartels in Mexico.

President Trump has been working around the clock with President Xi on this issue to reach an agreement. We went to Beijing seeking to get 13 precursors listed. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and direct engagement with President Xi, we reached an agreement to have all 13 listed – as well as 7 chemicals restricted. It’s a historic success.
