After spending four years ignoring or exacerbating issues like the nation’s border crisis and then running one of the most dysfunctional presidential elections in recent memory, many Americans might assume the Kamala Harris’ political career would be over.

Instead, many of her supporters continue to insist that she will re-emerge as a leader in the Democratic Party. And Fox News Channel contributor Tammy Bruce seems to agree, although it has nothing to do with Harris’ perceived skills as a candidate.

According to the Daily Caller:

“Some people are professional candidates. Now, she has won office, right? I mean, she has done well, inexplicably. She did — it continues to concern me that she received as many votes as she did, but that is something that the legacy media contributes to, and party loyalty contributes to, but all Americans across the board are waking up,” Bruce told “Varney and Company” guest host Ashley Webster. “But this is a woman who, because of the weakness of the Democratic bench, she becomes a star. And if the Democratic bench expands, if Democrats vote people in who know what they’re doing and can explain a vision, then the value of someone like Kamala Harris or the appeal of her will wane.”

“But, you know, in California you can — I suppose she might have a shot at something, if she wants to run for governor, but she’s not going to go and do something new,” Bruce continued. “Many people forget to think about that, you know, maybe you should try something else. There are other things in life. But, you know, for politicians at her level, there’s really nothing else in their minds that they can do, so it’s going to be up to the Democrats. But if they had a bigger bench and a stronger bench, she would not, I think, be in the position she’s in.”
Critics and supporters alike have speculated in recent weeks about what Harris’ future might hold:

CNN reports Kamala is seriously considering a run for governor of California in 2026 or president in 2028, telling donors: "You haven't seen the last of me. I'm not going quietly into the night."

Kamala Harris says she’s “seriously considering” running for California governor in 2026. So am I. The difference is, I’ve been working on cleaning up her and her party’s failed policies for years @GoldenTogether.

Please run, Kamala, we’d love to beat you again!

As Politico reported in November, Harris has been discussing possible next moves with her inner circle in the aftermath of her electoral defeat:

Kamala Harris has been lying low since her defeat in the presidential race, unwinding with family and senior aides in Hawaii before heading back to the nation’s capital.

But privately, the vice president has been instructing advisers and allies to keep her options open — whether for a possible 2028 presidential run, or even to run for governor in her home state of California in two years. As Harris has repeated in phone calls, “I am staying in the fight.”

She is expected to explore those and other possible paths forward with family members over the winter holiday season, according to five people in the Harris inner circle, who were granted anonymity to discuss internal dynamics. Her deliberations follow an extraordinary four months in which Harris went from President Joe Biden’s running mate to the top of the ticket, reenergizing Democrats before ultimately crashing on election night.
“She doesn’t have to decide if she wants to run for something again in the next six months,” said one former Harris campaign aide. “The natural thing to do would be to set up some type of entity that would give her the opportunity to travel and give speeches and preserve her political relationships.”
Here’s some additional commentary regarding Harris’ push to remain relevant in Democratic Party politics:
