Erika Kirk Delivers Commencement Speech At Hillsdale College

Erika Kirk is back in the headlines.

CEO of TPUSA Erika Kirk made her first public appearance since attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where she was seen leaving the event in tears after a gunman opened fire in an alleged assassination attempt against President Trump.

In her first public outing since the shooting, Kirk delivered a commencement speech at Hillsdale College.

Erika Kirk was selected to deliver the speech due to the fact her husband Charlie promoted and praised the college throughout his career due to the college’s aim to teach conservative values.

The New York Post covered more on Erika’s speech and revealed what she told the students:

Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika called on the next generation of Christian scholars to follow in her husband’s footsteps and pursue truth and “defend liberty” during her commencement speech at Hillsdale College Saturday.

Even though a twisted assassin took his life, her husband’s spirit endures, the Turning Point USA CEO told the graduates.

“Through his learning, Charlie was better able to recognize his duty to pursue truth and to defend liberty, and this responsibility he felt to God. He felt it for our family, to our country, and that was born from what he learned.”

She implored Hillsdale College’s 400-person graduating class to uphold those traditional values as they enter the workforce and to marry one another young.

“As you continue forward in life, I want you to kind of embrace the similar blueprint of my husband, where he loved to point out that God made us purposeful beings and continue forward in life with clarity and intention,” she said.

She also accepted an honorary doctorate on behalf of her late husband Charlie:

Erika at one point called out “conspiracy theorists” during her speech:

Last week, Erika Kirk called out political commentator Candace Owens for claiming she was behind her husband’s assassination.

Newsweek reported more on Kirk’s comments on Owens:

Conservative influencer Candace Owens has pushed back after Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk called her out in a video in which she addressed the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

In the video, Kirk hit out at headlines about her, slammed a recent comedy sketch by the comedian Druski, and criticized Owens.

“Every morning I wake up to a new headline lying about me. I have comedians dressing up in white face, I have people saying I’m not fit to be CEO, and I have Candace Owens claiming I murdered my husband,” she said in the video.

By way of response, Owens, who has frequently been critical of Kirk in the months that have followed the assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk, wrote that Kirk’s video was “uncomfortable to watch,” and “painful.” She also denied ever having made the claims Kirk alluded to, saying: “Of everything I’ve said about Erika she chooses to respond to something I never said.”

In a statement shared with Newsweek, Owens said: “Erika’s address yesterday was an unmitigated disaster. Demanding retribution for comedic skits, followed by a bald-faced lie about what I have accused her of, only furthers the public sense that she is untrustworthy and, frankly, dangerous.”
