The world of wrestling appears to be cornered by President Donald Trump, as evidenced by the surprise endorsement he received from another legendary figure last week.

An April 17th interview with Vanity Fair revealed that Roman Reigns is a secret fan of 47, a fact that sent liberal conclaves of the internet into outrage as they lamented yet another professional wrestler throwing his weight and influence behind President Trump.

“I support our president,” said Reigns, whose given name is Joe Anoa’i. “Trump is one of those guys where he’s got a vast history and a huge background.”

The 39-year-old former WWE champion’s interview came before WrestleMania, the WWE’s flagship event considered to be the Superbowl of professional wrestling. Reigns cited Trump’s multidisciplinary career as proof he has the policy chops to again handle the world’s most demanding job.

“He’s been in entertainment. He’s been in big business, politics,” he said.

“At this point, I’m supporting a bright future for our country. Positive and competent leadership. For us to be what we’re supposed to be—to be a world leader and carry that respect and do what a world power like us should be doing,” Reigns told Vanity Fair.

His props toward Trump weren’t unlimited, however. The Florida native disagreed with Trump’s flair for airing grievances with political opponents.

“It’s like he needs that adversary,” Reigns said. “He needs that opposition to bounce off of. He needs that competitive motivation or something.”

To him, the parallels between politics and wrestling are obvious.

“To be honest,” he said, “the world seems to be more like wrestling than any other form of entertainment.”

Some of the sport’s more liberal fans were apoplectic online after once again finding out that their favorite stars are almost unanimously in support of the Republican president.

“Peak mental illness you won’t see in any other fandom,” one deranged fan wrote in an X post spotted by the Daily Caller.

Another fan of Reign reprimanded her fellow liberals for writing their wish that cancer returns to kill Reign. He has battled chronic myeloid leukemia since 2007 and suffered a recurrence in 2018, forcing him to relinquish his title before returning to the ring.

“Be mad at Roman. Be upset with Roman. Hold him accountable, [b]ut wishing his cancer to come back and kill him because you are mad at him is just downright vindictive and cruel,” she wrote.

Elsewhere in the Vanity Fair article, Reigns said choosing Trump over former Vice President Kamala Harris was an easy one to make given the lack of clarity he felt was being provided by the Democrat and her campaign, especially surrounding the private health battle of former President Joe Biden and his ignominious decision to drop out.

“One person was giving us information. One person was answering questions, so it wasn’t that hard,” he told the outlet.
