Now that Trump and Zohran Mamdani are buddies, maybe Mamdani will agree that New York City falls under the jurisdiction of the USA, not international law. Or maybe it will work the other way, and Trump will allow Mamdani to arrest an allied foreign head of state:
This is one of the most insane things I’ve ever heard a politician say.
Zohran Mamdani declares that New York is a “city of international law.”
Last time I checked, I was pretty sure New York is an American city under U.S. law.pic.twitter.com/yurkMdFImd

ABC7:
“You said you would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu based on the 2024 international court arrest warrant. Next UN General Assembly, as mayor, would you do that?”
Mamdani:
“I believe this is a city of international law, and being a city of international law means looking to uphold international law, and that means upholding the warrants from the International Criminal Court, whether they’re for Benjamin Netanyahu or Vladimir Putin.”
The latter would result in nuclear war.
As Amy Curtis observes,
The implications of this are horrifying. What other international laws will Mamdani uphold? Laws that undermine free speech and the Second Amendment? Laws that undermine our other Constitutional rights?
If Netanyahu comes to speak at the UN and Mamdani arrests him for being mean to terrorists, this will violate not only diplomatic immunity but federal law, which prohibits US law enforcement from cooperating with the deranged and malevolent International Criminal Court. But then, Mamdani has already promised to violate economic law by making everything more affordable through massive government intervention.
On a tip from Bluto.
