The White House completely remodeled its webpage on COVID-19 to reflect its stance that the virus originated from a lab in China.

The website states that the “Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2,” a scientific paper published in Nature Medicine in March 2020, was used by public health officials to “discredit the lab theory.” The White House claimed former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci relied on the paper to “push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally.”

Fauci cited the “Proximal Origin” paper while speaking to the nation from the White House podium on April 17, 2020. However, the very same day, the authors of the paper indicated in a message exchange that they couldn’t completely rule out the “lab leak” theory. These messages were later released through an investigation by the House Oversight Committee.

The webpage COVID.gov, created under the Biden administration to give information on vaccines, testing and treatment, now redirects to the White House’s new website titled “Lab Leak: The True Origins of COVID-19.”

The White House makes several points to argue that COVID-19 leaked from a lab. It says the virus “possesses a biological characteristic that is not found in nature” and argues all cases stemmed from a single introduction into humans, which “runs contrary to previous pandemics where there were multiple spillover events.”

The White House also draws attention to the fact that China’s main SARS research lab is located in Wuhan and argues it was known to conduct gain-of-function research “at inadequate biosafety levels.”

“Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) researchers were sick with COVID-like symptoms in the fall of 2019, months before COVID-19 was discovered at the wet markets,” the White House stated.

The website additionally includes a map showing the Huanan Seafood Market, believed to be an epicenter of the COVID-19 disease, being just 7.5 miles from the Wuhan lab.

Republicans on the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic released a report concluding that the virus “most likely emerged” from a lab; the report is included on the White House’s “lab leak” webpage.

The White House takes aim at the Biden administration and Democrats’ handling of the pandemic, arguing lockdowns were detrimental, masks were ineffective, and the 6-foot distance rule was arbitrarily made up by Fauci.

There is also a photo of the full and unconditional pardon former President Joe Biden gave Fauci “for any offenses against the United States which he may have committed or taken part in” since Jan. 1, 2014, to Jan. 20, 2025, Biden’s final day in office.

FIVE YEARS AGO: FAUCI DISMISSED LAB LEAK THEORY EVEN AS ADVISERS PRIVATELY DOUBTED

The website also includes a note arguing the Biden administration sought to censor alternative theories and courses of action by “coercing and colluding with the world’s largest social media companies.”

“Public health officials often mislead the American people through conflicting messaging, knee-jerk reactions, and a lack of transparency,” the website states. “Most egregiously, the federal government demonized alternative treatments and disfavored narratives, such as the lab leak theory, in a shameful effort to coerce and control the American people’s health decisions.”
