I received a very heartening text from former PA Congressman Curt Weldon the day before Tucker Carlson aired his interview on Monday, April 14. “Hi Jack,” it read. “I’m talking! 3+ Million on two Podcasts so far. Tucker on Monday. You were the only one with guts and instincts to tell the truth. Thank you! Curt.”
For years, Weldon has been looking for an opportunity to speak out. Carlson provided it. He titled the interview, “Rep. Curt Weldon: It’s Time to Finally Tell the Truth About 9-11.” I have spoken to Weldon at length about the events that led up to 9-11, and I prefer to stick to what I can prove. I’ll leave discussion about building collapse to others. As a former fire chief and a national advocate for firefighters Weldon has a particular interest in those matters.
The Deep State plot against Weldon is fascinating enough. I stumbled into the middle of the plot in July 2006. Mike Wire, the most critical witness to the destruction 10 years earlier of TWA Flight 800, had wrangled an appointment with Weldon and invited me along.
Weldon was a different breed of congressman. The year before our visit Regnery had published Weldon’s “Countdown to Terror: The Top-Secret Information that Could Prevent the Next Terrorist Attack on America—and How the CIA Has Ignored It,” a book whose very title made serious enemies in the intelligence establishment. Weldon had also shed light on Able Danger, the Army intelligence unit that had targeted 9/11 conspirators months before the attack only to be thwarted by various bureaucracies.
Despite Weldon’s credentials, we did not expect much from the meeting. If Weldon were like other authorities we had tried to contact, he would have listened politely for a few minutes and promised to have some staffer look into it. Not Curt Weldon. He ushered us into his office at 11 a.m., and kept us there for more than two hours – until I had to leave.
Mike Wire had a compelling story to tell. His straightforward, no-nonsense account of what he saw and how the CIA corrupted his testimony caught Weldon’s attention. I supported his account by sharing other witness testimony and explaining the motivation and the logic of the conspirators in the cover-up. Weldon did not need much convincing. He had been investigating the dark side of the Clinton security apparatus for years. It did not surprise him that the CIA would involve itself in a domestic airplane crash.
In the summer of 2006, Weldon was well aware of the forces massing against him. He had made it his business to investigate Clinton’s national security adviser, Sandy Berger. At Bill Clinton’s urging, Berger repeatedly stole and destroyed classified documents relevant to TWA 800 and/or 9-11. The Democratic attorneys working the Berger case inside the Bush DoJ recommended an absurdly lenient $10,000 fine for Berger after he was caught in the act at the National Archives. Worse, they refused to tell the 9-11 Commission, then in session, of Berger’s thefts.
In fact, when Wire and I left Weldon, he was on his way to review the Berger evidence. As well protected as Berger was, Weldon was the one man in Washington willing and able to put all the pieces together of a scandal that, if pursued, could shake the DC firmament to the core.
The Deep State was not about to let that happen. Less than a year after getting caught, Berger’s lobbying firm, Stonebridge International, added a new member to its advisory board. That member just happened to be the vice-chair of the 9-11 Commission, Lee Hamilton, a former congressman.
The chutzpah of this appointment still astonishes. Berger had thoroughly sabotaged the work of the 9-11 Commission and then had the nerve to appoint the highest-ranking Democrat on that commission to the five-member advisory board of his private firm. Again, the media chose not to notice.
The media failed to notice as well when Berger helped plot the political assassination of the one congressman willing to expose his and the Clintons’ criminal mischief. In March 2006, Berger held a fundraiser for the designated hit man, Joe Sestak, a former vice admiral forced into retirement for what the U.S. Navy charitably called “poor command climate.”
Would-be congressman Sestak had not lived in Weldon’s suburban Philadelphia district for thirty years before being tabbed to run. Berger lent more than his money and a campaign kick-off party. He volunteered Stonebridge’s Director of Communications to serve as Sestak’s campaign spokesperson. Before the campaign was through, Berger and his allies would bring in the big guns, none bigger than Bill Clinton and none more lethal than the FBI.
Popular ten-term congressmen don’t go down easily. With three weeks remaining before the election, despite the outsized efforts of the Sestak campaign, Weldon retained a seven-point lead in the polls.
Weldon’s enemies, however, had a nasty little ace up their sleeves. On Monday morning, October 16, without warning or explanation, the FBI raided the Philadelphia-area home of Weldon’s daughter Within hours, Democrat protesters were waving “Caught Red-Handed” signs outside Weldon’s district office nearby. No charges were ever brought. In fact, as Weldon told Carlson, the FBI never even spoke to his daughter, not before the raid and not since. It was all dirty trick, political theater at its foulest.
The Weldon “scandal” received a great deal of unreflective attention from a media desperate for a Democrat win. My attempt to educate reporters, local and national, fell on willfully deaf ears. The narrative had already been established, and the media saw no need to rework it. On election night, Sestak and his pals had cause to celebrate. He won Weldon’s district with 56 percent of the vote, and the Democrats retook Congress.
For the time being, the Clintons’ secrets were safe. There would be no serious investigation into 9-11, none at all into TWA Flight 800. Once Berger regained his security clearance in 2008, he could use Stonebridge to help the Democrats regain the White House and arrange even more technology transfers to China, his stock in trade.
From 2006 to 2016, Deep State conspirators ruled DC. Hillary’s election in 2016 promised even more happy returns. Trump’s shocking victory barely fazed the denizens of the Deep State. They did their best to neutralize him for four years until they could elect a Democrat. But in 2024 even they could not sell a senile Biden or a silly Harris.
In the next four years, God willing, we will see more secrets revealed that at any time since the opening of the Soviet vaults. Weldon has been yearning to tell the truth these last twenty years, and kudos to Tucker for giving him the platform to tell it.
