Chavez-DeRemer lost reelection to the House in 2024 but received President Donald Trump’s nomination for a spot in the Labor Department. As a more pro-union Republican, she is expected to draw some more support from Democrats than other nominees.

Due to her union ties, at least one Senate Republican has already denied her his support: Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). Paul said he wouldn’t vote for her due to her support for the PRO Act, a pro-union piece of legislation.
