It looks like today is going to be AWFL Wednesday. Our Deanna told you this morning about AWFL Aftyn Behn, who fortunately lost the Special Election here in Tennessee to Matt Van Epps. Amanda Marcotte of Salon is a much older model of the AWFL. She is an Affluent White Liberal Woman who lives in Philadelphia. Classic prototype. In her column today, she spewed her AWFL hate at Secretary of War for his “cowardice”. Insert hard eyeroll here.

Her spewage today is titled “Pete Hegseth’s “warrior ethos” is plain old cowardice”. The sub is “He calls himself the “Secretary of War” and plays a tough guy on TV, but in real life he’s a major weenie”. That is an unconscionable statement for Amanda to make, but she is stoopid. She should be glad that Military Moms only make up seven percent of the American population. Has she ever slept with her phone to make sure she doesn’t miss a phone call from some far off place? My friends and I used to say, “never get between a Military Mom and her phone”.

Don’t denigrate someone who has signed up to defend your freedoms. The first paragraph from the Salon article:

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth really wants you to think he’s a tough guy. The former Fox News host and reported makeup-studio enthusiast is forever bragging out how brave and manly he is, with a length and volume that screams “overcompensation” to anyone actually possessing internal fortitude. With his perfectly coiffed hair and belligerent posture, Hegseth has long made it clear that his idea of “strength” is strictly a matter of showmanship. He eschews the term “soldier” in favor of “warfighter.” He rejects the term “defense” in favor of “lethality.” He even tried to rename the Defense Department the “Department of War,” which is the bureaucratic equivalent of buying an oversized pickup because your wife left you for her spin instructor.

Nearly every word in that paragraph is an “AWFL” trigger word. What the heck is wrong with oversized pickups? Has anyone in Mandy’s coven ever had someone out on a ship at sea defending the nation?

In case you don’t know, Hegseth was deployed to Guantanamo Bay and Iraq in 2004 and Afghanistan in 2011. Three deployments isn’t cosplaying anyone. More from the article:

He forced the military’s top brass to sit still for a lecture about the “warrior ethos,” convened for no other apparent reason than Hegseth’s adolescent desire to pretend that he’s Mel Gibson in “Braveheart.” He goes on and on about his imaginary “male standard” or “male-level” fitness ideals, mostly because women don’t fit his image of what “warfighters” look like, which seems entirely drawn from the G.I. Joe figurines he played with as a child. He was pushed out of the Army, quitting of his own accord because of too much perceived wokeness. As defense secretary, he’s been systematically trying to purge all women who have performed their military duties beyond his capabilities. Heaven forbid he endure reminders that many female members of the species are stronger and more capable than he could ever imagine being.

Breaking news: Boys and Girls are different. Many female members of the species are stronger. Most are not. Their bodies break down more easily carrying the ruck they are required to carry,

If Amanda Marcotte knew anything about the military or actually listened to someone in the military, she would know that lethality and competence have been issues in the military since the Obama years. And the Clinton years.

Operation “Protect Pete” seems like a fitting description of this guy’s entire career of evading accountability. Perhaps he should make that his next tattoo, so he can brag about how much the needle hurt while ducking any consequences that might truly sting.

Amanda is jealous and bitter. She doesn’t know any real men or women and cant hang with the anyway. Jealous and bitter. She can’t handle life. She wants to live protected by the protections our children set. She and her AWFL friends.
