The USA and UK have enjoyed a special relationship going back generations. We fought in two world wars largely for its sake. It is based not merely on shared language and history but on shared values. That’s why the Trump Administration is defending our friendship by calling out the betrayal of these values, which prominently include freedom of speech and thereby freedom of thought.
