After a cataclysmic break between President Trump and Elon Musk today over the public ‘airwaves’ of the X platform, there seems to be a glimmer of hope.

Actually… two glimmers.

First, pro-Trump billionaire Bill Ackman weighed in as so many have during today’s disturbance in the MAGA force.

And he did it with the straightforward simplicity that you might expect from one of the world’s most ACTIVIST investors.

He simply stated his support for either party, and petitioned for peace:

And immediately following that came our FIRST glimmer of hope, hinting that the band MIGHT get back together again after all:

Now, before we go any farther, I want to point out something that has been surmised dozens of times today by countless individuals.

This could have all been for show.

There are a ton of reasons, and it would not have been the first time President Trump orchestrated a little drama for posturing purposes.

I have heard several accounts, but I had forgotten about THIS snippet that Megyn Kelly related to Shawn Ryan not too long ago on his podcast:

So while I point excitedly to the prospect of potential hope glimmering through the storm clouds… just know that “I” know — this could have all been planned for a purpose.

But in lieu of stronger evidence, my working assumption is that this is REAL.

Because if it is… it’s bad.  And it would be much better if these glimmers of hope manifest in to full-scale friendship again.

Here’s a very quick synopsis of the days events leading right up to that point, in case you’re just catching up, according to Politicom:

The most famous bromance on the planet was very publicly put through the wringer today.

Business titan Elon Musk and Donald Trump went after each other with a vengeance.

For several days Elon Musk has made public his disdain for the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) that President Trump is pushing to. On the other hand, Trump understands that the BBB cut taxes, cut the trade deficit, and bring jobs to America,

Today tension between Trump and Elon Musk boiled over after the President responded to Elon’s trashing of the Big Beautiful Bill and its spending levels, sparking a very public feud between the two business giants.

Things really went off the rails when Elon Musk accused President Trump of being involved in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

On Thursday night there was a glimmer of hope.

Elon Musk agreed that he and President Trump should “make peace.”

And that brings us up to speed for the SECOND glimmer of hope I’ve seen this evening.

Bloomberg’s Joe Weisenthal shared this… highlighting that you don’t have to have millions of followers to make a difference:

I’ll post a better screenshot of that conversation in case it’s hard to make out:

And in the event that’s hard to read, here’s the actual X conversation, followed by the full text of that entire threaded conversation:

First, President Trump threatened to cancel Elon’s Space X contracts, to which Elon essentially said… “Fine.”

Here’s the full text of that part of the conversation:

President Trump: The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!

Elon Musk: In light of the President’s statement about cancellation of my government contracts, @SpaceX will begin decommissioning its Dragon spacecraft immediately.

And then with just as much simplicity and straightforward ease as Bill Ackman, this “Alaska” account didn’t just get Elon to agree that peace was a good idea.

But Elon actually agreed to back away from his threat to decommission the Dragon spacecraft!

Here’s the full text of THAT portion of the conversation:

Alaska:  This is a shame this back and forth. You are both better than this. Cool off and take a step back for a couple days.

Elon Musk:  Good advice.

Ok, we won’t decommission Dragon.

So maybe, as I’ve stated several times today in our coverage of this feud, just maybe… cooler heads will prevail in the end.

There may have simply been so much pressure on both President Trump and Elon Musk over the last few months to get along and make things work… that the sudden distance allowed them BOTH a chance to decompress.

And one possible byproduct of that is likely to be some built-up steam from keeping both of their larger-than-life personalities in check for the good of the country, for so long.

Not to mention, Elon Musk is fairly new to the conservative side of things, and actually tends to push farther that direction even than President Trump, as reported by Fox News:

Musk’s conservative genesis on the public stage has put him at odds with the president as he rails against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Trump has touted as legislation that would translate into big tax breaks for Americans across the pay brackets and subsequently called on Republican lawmakers to swiftly pass it.

Musk, who is considered America’s wealthiest resident, is publicly criticizing the sweeping legislation just days after his departure from DOGE and the federal government. The “big, beautiful bill” is currently making its way through the Senate and would fund Trump’s agenda, including strengthening border policies and ending taxes on overtime and tips.

In addition to slamming the “big, beautiful bill” in recent days, Musk has posted a handful of X messages celebrating free market champion Milton Friedman and beloved conservative economist Thomas Sowell.

Musk also doubled down on strong endorsements of the Second Amendment while on the campaign trail, posting on X in October 2024 that “tyrannical government” works to take guns from citizens in an effort to snuff out free speech.

“The right to bear arms is there to protect free speech and stop a tyrannical government from taking your rights away!

At the end of the day (which… this is), it’s important to note that the country is truly bigger than any one man — even Elon Musk, and even President Trump.

If they don’t patch things up, there might be some rough waters to a degree, for awhile.

But we’ll make it.

But as Ackman suggested — America needs all the help she can get right now, and things would be FAR better with a unified Trump-Musk friendship intact.

With these two small glimmering promises of hope, I’m going to say that might happen after all in the coming hours and days.

And it’s a good thing, too.

If ‘Alaska’ hadn’t come through and SAVED the Dragon spacecraft — there’s an entire crew on board the Space Station that might have a hard time getting home, otherwise!

What’s your take?
