Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, praised Trump’s statement, calling for immediate action to debar and defund Planned Parenthood of all taxpayer dollars.
“The idea of profiting off aborted baby organs should sicken everyone to their core. Planned Parenthood must be debarred and defunded of ALL taxpayer dollars IMMEDIATELY,” she said in on X post.
The question stems from a 2015 controversy when the Center for Medical Progress released videos exposing how Planned Parenthood officials discussed selling aborted baby parts, prompting widespread outrage among pro-life Americans.
Investigations following the 2015 videos, including a 2016 House Select Investigative Panel, found evidence of ethical violations by the abortion giant and it recommended criminal charges but nothing came of it.
Planned Parenthood has consistently denied the allegations, stating any fetal tissue donations were for medical research and complied with federal laws, which allow reimbursement for costs but prohibit profiting.
Pro-life groups, including Hawkins, argue the practice of harvesting fetal organs is morally reprehensible, with Hawkins stating on X that it “should sicken everyone to their core.”
The Trump administration previously took steps to limit Planned Parenthood’s funding, including a 2019 rule that cut $60 million in Title X funds, a move later challenged by Planned Parenthood and over 20 states in court.
The comments come on the heels of Trump officials saying they would freeze Planned Parenthood grants.
