Voters like President Donald Trump’s leadership in his first three weeks more than they did in his first term, the latest sign that he benefited from his unorthodox opening blast of executive orders, appointment of change agents to key departments and overwhelming transparency.

Likely voters told Rasmussen Reports that they rate his leadership on par with their approval of him overall and said that he’s better at his job this time.

In the latest results shared with Secrets, 50% rate Trump as a good to excellent leader, with 35% calling it excellent. By comparison, 46% rate him fair to poor, with most of that failing grade coming from Democrats, 62% rating him poor.

Asked to compare his first and second terms, 43% said his leadership is better, 37% worse, and 17% “about the same.”

In his first term, Trump’s hourly comments and pronouncements on Twitter irked many voters. This time around, he is instead saying what he thinks at near-daily press conferences.

What’s more, said Rasmussen, while many found Trump too confrontational in his first term, more like his style now.

Asked about his first three weeks, 44% called his leadership style “about right,” 41% said “too confrontational,” and 9% said he was being “too cooperative.”

His above-average marks come as his overall approval rating is 54%, generally higher than he had in his first term.
