Scott Bessent is a national gem, plain and simple.

Today, the Treasury Secretary hilariously blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Once again, Bessent was spitting straight truth!

First, he accused Newsom of arriving with his “billionaire sugar daddy Alex Soros!”

Then, Bessent went on to give probably the most accurate description of Newsom’s appearance yet, saying he “strikes me as Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ken.”

He also questioned Newsom’s economic literacy, calling him possibly “the only Californian who knows less about economics than Kamala Harris.”

Watch here:

HOLY CRAP! Scott Bessent just PUMMELED Gavin Newsom in Davos

“He’s here this week with his billionaire sugar daddy, Alex Soros!” 🔥

“I think it’s very, very ironic that Newsom — who strikes me as Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ben — may be the only Californian who knows less about economics than Kamala Harris!”

BOOM!

Mic drop.

Talk about a roast. Bessent was absolutely on-point with everything he said — especially that part about Newsom being a mixture of Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale’s character from American Psycho) and the Sparkle Beach Ken doll.

For reference, here’s what Patrick Bateman and Sparkle Beach Ken look like:

Eerily accurate!

Perhaps the best part is that Newsom was sitting in the crowd, right next to Bessent’s staffers, and listening to every word.

Per The New York Post:

The Democrat governor sat in a last-minute open seat next to Bessent’s staff during the Treasury Secretary’s Fox Business panel.

Newsom took notes and silently scoffed at some of Bessent’s comments, including claims that “drill, baby, drill” has pushed gasoline prices below $2, that Trump has helped other prices come down, and that there will be a real rise in income in the coming year, a senior CBS News reporter shared on X.

During Donald Trump’s address at Davos on Wednesday, he reiterated comments from a day earlier saying he and Newsom “used to get along.”

“We’re going to help the people in California. We want to have no crime. I know Gavin was here. I used to get along so great with Gavin when I was president. Gavin is a good guy,” Trump said.

On Tuesday, Newsom urged European leaders not to give in to “T-Rex” Trump.

“It’s time to stand tall and firm and have a backbone. I can’t take this complicity, people rolling over,” Newsom told a reporter when asked what Europe should do amid the president’s threats to take over Greenland. “I should have brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders.”

Newsom arrived in Davos earlier this week and has already drawn fury from the White House for “undermining the U.S. on the world stage.”

“Gavin Newsom should stop undermining the United States on the world stage and start fixing his own broken state back home,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai told The Post.

The California Democrat, widely viewed as a frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, is seen by many as attempting to raise his profile ahead of the election.

Sadly, we didn’t get any photos of Newsom’s reaction to what Scott Bessent had to say about him.

But, Jack Posobiec did catch a clip of him during President Trump’s remarks:

He doesn’t look too happy.

But, maybe it’s just because his speech at the forum got canceled!

More on that from ABC 7 News:

A planned on-stage interview with California Governor Gavin Newsom at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, was abruptly canceled Wednesday, just hours after he was in the room when President Donald Trump spoke to world leaders.

Governor Newsom alleges that the U.S. State Department interfered with plans for his speech, and that’s why it got canceled.

He had been invited to speak with Fortune Magazine at an event sponsored by the USA House, which, for the first time, was recognized by the U.S. government as the country’s official headquarters at Davos.

In a statement to ABC News, the magazine confirmed it had been contacted by USA House about canceling the event and that high-profile events abroad can be affected by a number of factors. They did not comment on what may have caused USA House’s decision to cancel the event.

Before his speech was canceled, Governor Newsom spoke to reporters, criticizing President Trump’s speech.
