Well, after President Trump took office, train derailments appeared to decrease, but on Tuesday, the streak of no train derailments came to an end.
A train in Kentucky derailed on Tuesday, prompting local officials to issue a shelter-in-place order after chemicals leaked from the train cars.
ABC News reported more on the train derailment and the shelter-in-place order:
A derailed CSX train leaked a flammable chemical and sparked a fire in a rural part of southern Kentucky on Tuesday, prompting authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order that was later lifted for nearby residents.
No injuries were reported after 31 rail cars derailed at about 6:15 a.m. CST in Todd County, CSX said in a statement. The derailment caused a leak of molten sulfur from one rail car and sparked a fire that was extinguished by late Tuesday morning, the company said.
Crews at the scene were working “as safely and quickly as possible” to clean up the site, it said.
“We appreciate the swift response and coordination of local first responders and emergency management officials,” the company said. “Our primary focus continues to be the health and safety of onsite personnel, the surrounding community and mitigating any potential risk to the environment.”

News Nation reported how the Governor of Kentucky responded to the accident:
A train derailed in Kentucky on Tuesday morning, according to the state’s Gov. Andy Beshear.
“Kentucky, there has been a train derailment in Todd County, and local emergency management has issued a shelter-in-place order for the City of Trenton,” Beshear posted on X. “Please follow local guidance and stay safe. More information will be shared as available for those in the surrounding area.”
The derailment of the 31-car CSX train left at least one freight car leaking molten sulfur. The chemical can cause burns and spew sulfur dioxide or hydrogen sulfide.
