It’s been a heckuva few days for the man who was as recently as Friday near the top of the polls to be the next California governor, Democrat Rep Swalwell (CA-14). Then allegations of sexual abuse and even rape came out, and the stuff hit the fan seemingly hourly over the weekend.
And now the curtain has come down on his political career. Swalwell just said Monday that he will be resigning from Congress:

SWALWELL STATEMENT ON CONGRESSIONAL RESIGNATION
“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.
I am aware of efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me and other members. Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress.
As we wrote, almost every person or organization that endorsed him had rescinded their support, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg had opened an investigation, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) had indicated she’s going to file a motion to expel him from Congress, and the pugnacious rep. finally gave into the overwhelming outcry Sunday and dropped his bid to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Then on Sunday, Swalwell got thrown out of the billionaire’s mansion he was living in.

The ‘Who Knew What and When’ Phase of the Swalwell Scandal Begins, and I Have Thoughts
It’s one of the quickest and most vicious downfalls of a political career that you’ll ever see. The powers that be in the Democrat party for some reason wanted him out, it would seem, and now they’ve achieved their goal. We will doubtless be finding out more and more in the coming days about who they are and how they engineered it.
As someone who found Swalwell’s behavior to be appalling long before this episode, I am not sorry to see him go.
