The following article, The Black Community’s Unexpected White Life Coach, was first published on The Black Sphere.

President Donald Trump is at it again—shaking the political chessboard and forcing Black America to confront an uncomfortable truthdependency is not empowerment.

While Democrats clutch their pearls, Trump has done more to challenge the Black community’s entrenched victimhood than any modern leader. That’s not the narrative the Left wants, but facts don’t care about feelings.

For decades, Democrats have infantilized Black Americans—dangling Affirmative Action like a pacifier, lowering educational standards to mask failure, and selling government dependence as “progress.” The result? A community that once prided itself on resilience and self-reliance now finds itself trapped in a cycle of learned helplessness.

But one election changed everything.

Trump’s dismantling of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs isn’t an attack—it’s an intervention. He’s forcing Black Leftists to do something radical: look in the mirror.

The Slap of Reality

This moment reminds me of my own wake-up call. After publishing The BIG Black Lie, my first royalty check was a staggering $40,000. For a fleeting moment, I thought, “This is it—I’ve made it.”

Then came Month Two.

$2,000.

Month Three?

$1,000.

The harsh truth hit me like a freight train: “Kevin, you’re not a writer—you’re a book salesman.” No more cushy corporate paycheck. No safety net. Just my hustle, my mistakes, and my survival.

That’s the same jolt Trump is delivering to Black America.

The BIG Black Lie (And Why It Matters)

My book asked a dangerous question: “How does a Black man reject the Left’s narrative without being labeled a traitor?” The answer? Self-reliance.

I had to live it. No DEI handouts. No victimhood crutch. Just raw determination—the same spirit that allowed my ancestors to endure slavery, Jim Crow, and systemic oppression. That same slave blood—unyielding, relentless—pulses through my veins. And now, Trump is forcing Black America to tap into it.

The DEI Grift Exposed

DEI wasn’t about equity—it was a racket. A lucrative hustle for grifters while keeping Black America docile. Check out this DEI grifter that Charlie Kirk noted in this tweet:

Take Barbara Furlow-Smiles, Facebook’s former “Global Head of Diversity Engagement.”

But the ruse continued. At Nike.

After Furlow-Smiles was terminated from Facebook, she worked for Nike from November 2021 to February 2023, serving as Senior Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. In that position, she was responsible for supporting DEI initiatives, developing strategies, and hosting DEI events. She was primarily responsible for a Juneteenth event in New York during her time at Nike.

As she had done at Facebook, Furlow-Smiles circumvented the vendor process at Nike to commit fraud. She linked her Nike corporate card to her PayPal and Venmo accounts. She then paid her associates with PayPal and Venmo, causing fraudulent charges to her Nike card. The associates kicked back portions of the payments to Furlow-Smiles, who submitted fraudulent expense reports to Nike to cover her tracks. The expense reports falsely claimed that the payments were related to the Juneteenth event.

In total, Furlow-Smiles stole more than $4.9 million from Facebook and over $120,000 from Nike based on fictitious charges and fraudulent invoices. She used the money to fund a luxury lifestyle in California, Georgia, and Oregon.

Her scheme was brazen:

  • Linked her corporate card to PayPal/Venmo.
  • Paid “associates” (who kicked back cash to her).
  • Submitted fake expense reports for a Juneteenth event.

All while living a luxury lifestyle across California, Georgia, and Oregon.

This wasn’t an outlier—it was the DEI business model. A shell game where the only winners were the grifters, and the losers were the Black Americans duped into believing handouts equal progress.

The Lost Ethic of Black Excellence

There was a time when Black labor was synonymous with excellence. If you wanted something done right, you hired a Black worker. Necessity bred innovation. Had we been given fair opportunity—not pity hires—we would’ve dominated industries, filed patents, built empires.

But the Left replaced hard work with handouts.

Today’s Leftist Blacks don’t want ownership—they want allowances. They don’t seek wealth—they settle for welfare. And Democrats? They’re the farmers, and Black voters are the hogs—fed just enough slop to stay compliant… until it’s time for pork chops.

Trump’s Gift: A Return to Greatness

Trump didn’t “hurt” Black America—he liberated it. By dismantling DEI, he forced a reckoning:

  • No more excuses.
  • No more victimhood.
  • No more reliance on a system designed to keep you dependent.

He’s handing Black America the Art of the Deal—not the art of the handout.

And that’s why history will remember him as the president who dared Black America to be great again.

The question is: Will we rise to the challenge?
