Suspected Tren de Aragua member Jose Gonzalez Roa was caught last month in California and his record shows why Americans are desperately seeking change at the southern border. According to the New York Post, the Venezuelan migrant was previously deported and had made at least three other border crossings. Roa had a record in New York, Colorado, and California, where he was “wanted for attempted murder.”

The suspected gang member was deported under the Trump-era Title 42 expulsion policy in December 2022. Only a few months later, Roa tried entering America legally at the port of entry in Brownsville, Texas, where he claimed asylum and was released into the United States, according to The Post.

The New York Post reports:

“During his time roaming the US, Roa allegedly went on a crime spree and was arrested at least three different times, including in Queens, New York, in September 2023 when he was charged with robbery, larceny and assault.”

Roa reportedly had left America to visit his girlfriend back in Mexico.

El Centro Sector Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, who posted about the arrest, issued a warning to Tren de Aragua that Texas “ain’t #Aurora, CO,” referring to the location where violent Tren de Aragua members have reportedly taken over apartment complexes.

Although it is not clear why Roa was let go after previous interactions, many gang members were able to get by border agents and roam freely as they posed as asylum seekers among other migrants.

“Without possessing any traditional gang markings or tattoos, the feds released a large portion of them because they were unable to get cooperation from the Venezuelan regime to help identify the gangbangers,” according to The Post.

The Venezuelan gang has become notorious for its violence, including assaults on New York City police officers, as well as their engagement with human and gun trafficking, and theft.

Reports from Texas reveal that the violent gang is desperately trying to break into the country in the final weeks of the Biden administration, before President-elect Donald Trump takes office and secures the border. The New York Post reports, Tren de Aragua is engaging border patrol agents with violence to try to force their way in. One Mexican border patrol officer was just killed after being bashed in the head to death with a rock. One of the three suspects was found to be linked to Tren de Aragua.
