The feud between President Trump and Elon Musk reignited and escalated after Musk made a series of posts criticizing the ‘Big, Beautiful Bill.’
Before leaving for Florida to visit Alligator Alcatraz, reporters asked Trump questions about Musk.
One reporter asked Trump about possibly deporting the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.
“Are you going to deport Elon Musk?” the reporter asked.
“We’ll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies,” Trump replied.

“So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now,” Musk responded to Trump’s comments.

Axios noted:
Upon his arrival in Florida, Trump doubled down, saying that DOGE is “going to look at Musk.”
“If DOGE looks at Musk, we’re going to save a fortune,” Trump added.
On Musk’s criticism for the GOP megabill, Trump told reporters, “I don’t think he should be playing that game.”
The relationship between Trump and his former chainsaw-wielding DOGE head publicly unraveled last month, as Musk aired an avalanche of grievances over the president’s signature tax and spending bill.
Musk also vowed to primary Congress members who campaigned on reducing government spending and vote for the legislation.
“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” Musk said.

“Anyone who campaigned on the PROMISE of REDUCING SPENDING , but continues to vote on the BIGGEST DEBT ceiling increase in HISTORY will see their face on this poster in the primary next year,” he added.

“Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” Trump posted to Truth Social.
“No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!” he added.
More info from Newsweek:
The billionaire has sharply criticized Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill for its multi-trillion-dollar expansion of the U.S. federal debt pile, prompting another outbreak in the war of words between him and the president.
The falling out threatens to be pyrrhic for both men. Musk can cause Trump political headaches by sowing division on the right of politics and backing candidates who would thwart his agenda in the 2026 midterms.
However, Musk enjoys lucrative contracts with the government, which Trump has threatened to revoke.
