Reuters published an article that will enrage liberals, titled, “Even before Trump, Black-led businesses say DEI initiatives fell flat.” Several black-owned businesses are raising concerns about the effectiveness of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, stating that these initiatives have not significantly benefited them. Therefore, their elimination by President Donald Trump has left Black Businesses somewhat unphased because the Democrats’ DEI initiatives “isn’t for us” laments one owner. According to a report by Reuters on Tuesday, many black business owners remain largely unaffected by the rollback of DEI programs under the Trump administration.

“DEI isn’t designed for us,” Casey Cooper, a black business owner, told Reuters. “It may look promising on paper, but the financial benefits do not reach us.” Wendell Stemley, President of the National Association of Minority Contractors, also challenged the perception that DEI policies have effectively helped minority contractors. “There’s a misconception that the government has extensive minority business programs offering numerous contracts to black business owners,” Stemley said. “That’s not how the system actually works.”

On the first day of his second term, Trump issued an executive order aimed at dismantling what he referred to as “wasteful” DEI programs throughout the federal government. He criticized the Biden-Harris administration for implementing what he called “illegal and immoral discrimination programs” across various government sectors. Additionally, on January 22, he signed another order ending DEI-based preferences in federal contracting and instructing agencies to combat private sector discrimination.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reports that during Joe Biden’s presidency, his administration aggressively promoted DEI initiatives, allocating millions in grants for K-12 diversity programs and significant DEI-related expenditures within agencies like the Department of Health and Human Services. While on the campaign trail, Trump vowed to eliminate “woke” policies in federal institutions.

Over the past year, major corporations such as Boeing, Walmart, Lowe’s, and Ford Motors have begun scaling back their DEI efforts in response to consumer and investor pushback. However, companies like Costco have maintained their commitment to diversity programs.

Additionally, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is aiming to reduce $2 trillion in federal spending. Elon Musk told Stagwell Inc. CEO Mark Penn last month that the initiative had a “good chance” of achieving $1 trillion in savings.

“DOGE is helping the federal government save approximately $1 billion per day by cutting unnecessary positions, eliminating DEI programs, and halting improper payments to foreign entities—all in alignment with the President’s Executive Orders,” the group stated in late January.

The organization has announced plans to publish a webpage detailing specific cost-cutting measures within the federal government. As of Monday, the page displayed a message stating, “Receipts coming over the weekend!”
