President Trump’s “Cryptic Statement” Explained

I saw this morning many large accounts saying that President Trump has posted a “cryptic statement” about some big announcement he will make tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

As usual, I’m here to fill in the gaps.

This is not a “cryptic” or “confusing” statement….some people just aren’t informed about what is happening.

Tuesday night is essentially the State of the Union address, although they don’t call it that in your first year in office as President:

In his post, President Trump is assuming everyone knows this is scheduled for Tuesday night and he’s simply saying he’s going to stand up there and give it to us straight….tell it like it is!

President Donald Trump is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress tomorrow night, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET. However, this speech is not officially classified as a State of the Union address. Traditionally, newly inaugurated presidents deliver an address to Congress shortly after taking office, which serves a similar purpose to the State of the Union but is not labeled as such. The State of the Union is typically given after a president has been in office for at least a year, often in January or February of the following year.

In this case, since Trump was recently inaugurated for his second term, this address is an opportunity to outline his legislative agenda and early accomplishments, rather than a formal State of the Union recap of the prior year. House Speaker Mike Johnson invited Trump to deliver this speech to share his “America First vision for our legislative future.” For viewers, the distinction may feel minor, as the event will resemble a State of the Union in format and significance.

It’s going to be incredible to watch, I can’t wait!

The president’s speech will not be considered a State of the Union, at least not officially.

It will be Trump’s first address to a joint session of Congress since his reelection, where he is expected to outline his legislative priorities and highlight the work his administration has accomplished since taking office.

Why is it not called the State of the Union?
The U.S. Constitution requires that the president “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union.”

However, since this is Donald Trump’s first address in his second nonconsecutive term, the speech is not classified as a “State of the Union.”

Dig deeper:
The State of the Union is traditionally delivered annually by the president during their second year in office and provides a formal report on the state of the nation.

For the past four decades, presidents have opted not to designate their first speech to Congress as a State of the Union, instead referring to it more generally as an address to Congress.

Because this address follows Trump’s reelection, it serves a similar purpose but does not meet the technical definition of a State of the Union.

But speaking of “cryptic” statements, here’s a different one.

On Sunday, President Trump stunned everyone by announcing a “Strategic Crypto Reserve” that will be led by XRP:

So I’m sitting in church this morning with my phone in my pocket, on silent of course, and all of a sudden I start to get phone vibration rumblings from alerts.

First one.

Then another.

Then many more….way more than usual.

Am I on a text chain that’s blowing up?

An emergency?

I waited for a bit because you don’t really want to be pulling your phone out during church, but eventually I decide to check to see if there’s a problem.

And I immediately see on the lock screen tons of updates from all my crypto apps.

I quickly click in and suddenly I see XRP is skyrocketing up.

And others too, but the biggest move seems to be in XRP.

I so badly wanted to dig in and read more, but I put it away, content to find out the news later on.

My guess was that the Ripple/SEC case had been settled or dismissed, but that actually wasn’t it I later learned.

It was better!

What happened was after weeks of speculation about whether President Trump would create a CRYPTO Strategic Reserve or just a BITCOIN Strategic Reserve, President Trump chose Sunday morning to announce he was indeed created a CRYPTO Strategic Reserve, in particular one that would include XRP, SOL and ADA.

Here was the announcement:

Not surprisingly, XRP soared from about $2.15 to almost $3.00….and my phone almost exploded in my pocket from all the buzzing!

The so-called “Bitcoin Maxis” have been pushing for weeks for a Bitcoin-only Strategic Reserve in a desperate attempt to give Bitcoin some advantage over other coins.

But that hope crumbled this morning, just as I’ve expected all along.

Hey, there’s a reason why I’ve been aggressively buying XRP at every chance I get since 2017!

Absolutely incredible to see this 8 years later.

President Trump then posted a second time about an hour later saying that BTC and ETH, as well as other cryptocurrencies, would also be included, but it was very clear this was an after-thought and not the main message:
