After proving herself to be an asset to President Donald Trump by representing him against politically motivated civil allegations in court, attorney Alina Babba has continued to demonstrate her capabilities within the realm of the judicial system.
This week, months after appointing her as interim US attorney for New Jersey, Trump has officially nominated her for the post.
The Daily Caller reported on the development, going on to recap one of the lawyer’s other notable recent achievements:
“Alina will lead with the same diligence and conviction that has defined her career, and she will fight tirelessly to secure a Legal System that is both ‘Fair and Just’ for the wonderful people of New Jersey,” Trump posted on Truth Social in March when naming her as interim U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey.
If confirmed, Habba would be able to continuously serve as New Jersey’s top federal prosecutor. More recently, Habba’s office garnered national headlines following an altercation outside a New Jersey migrant detention center involving several Democrats.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested in May when he attempted to join three Democrat congressional representatives touring the Delaney Hall detention facility. Baraka tried to accompany New Jersey Democratic Reps. Robert Menendez, LaMonica McIver and Bonnie Watson Coleman on a tour of the detention center, but were denied entry.
Here’s what she had to say about that matter at the time:
The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon. He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this…

Tuesday’s nomination announcement drew additional praise from various pro-Trump X accounts:
This is great news. She’s a bulldog for the rule of law.

There’s literally NO better choice in Jersey! Can’t wait for her to be confirmed.

She remains unpopular among Trump’s political rivals and critics, though:

Just days earlier, Fox News reported the arrest of a man accused of threatening Habba:
A Florida man was indicted Friday for allegedly threatening to kill Alina Habba in a series of online “86” posts against the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Fox News Digital has learned.
The “86”” has been interpreted by law enforcement officials to mean “get rid of.”
Gregory W. Kehoe, the interim U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Florida, announced the charges Friday.
According to the indictment reviewed by Fox News Digital, Salvatore Russotto made a threat in May to “injure and kill the victim in a series of online posts.”
Here’s some additional coverage of that development:
