Pop star Chappell Roan, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, told the hosts of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that she doesn’t know any young parents that are happy. She believes they are “in Hell” and that they are sleep deprived with no light in their eyes. She’s not entirely wrong, but she also doesn’t get it. They backlash is strong.
Nobody ever remembers Rule #1 of being famous – Don’t ever believe your own press. Famous people could save themselves a lot of agita if they remembered how truly lucky they are. Sadly, they never remember. They run their mouths in public and make fools of themselves. You have heard of Taylor Swift, right? New, young pop star Chappel Roan is the latest example. From ABC News quoting the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.:
“All of my friends who have kids are in hell,” she said. “I actually don’t know anyone who’s happy and has children at this age, anyone who has light in their eyes, anyone who has slept.”
The “Pink Pony Club” singer’s comments seemingly divided her audience, with perspectives from both sides making their case heard in the comments of the podcast clip on TikTok.
“49 year old Mom of grown children. You are not wrong girl! Being a Mom in this country is fucking ROUGH,” said one commenter.
Another added, “She is speaking the truth. Being a parent is hell. Why she is getting hate for this is beyond me.”
She’s 27. She doesn’t know shite from shinola about life. When I was 27, the idea of a baby was repulsive to me. I also wasn’t an arrogant gob. Most of my friends were married with children and they were happy. Tired, sure. I was working loooong hours on my career, so I was tired too. Tired doesn’t mean you are unhappy. Watch her facial expressions as she talks about it:
Chappell Roan, a Gen Z popstar who dresses in drag, claims: “All my friends who have kids are in hell. I don’t know anyone who is happy with kids.”

The sneers tell us much more about the spoiled pop star than they do about her friends.
Fortunately, some of us grow up and see the world outside of ourselves and our careers. The larger picture. You cannot tell people not to judge you/drag you when you put your business out in the world:
Lord have mercy NO. This disturbed young woman does not need a baby. Hale no. She’s young and immature. I can identify with that. She has other issues. She is a biological female, who is a lesbian and does drag as a woman. She is also angry and bipolar. From BiPolar Hope:
Before Roan sparkled on stage and belted zany lyrics, she was known as Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, who played dress up and sang worship songs at Bible camp. From the outside, Roan was a creative and vibrant child, but internally she struggled.
Like many adults who have bipolar disorder, Roan’s symptoms began in her youth. Also, like many, Roan’s condition remained undiagnosed throughout her childhood, leaving her to manage bipolar’s ups and downs without proper support.
“Being bipolar, I was so depressed as a little kid and so angry. You just think you’re such a bad person, and don’t realize that you’re really sick and need help, and our parents don’t know how to deal with it,” the 26-year-old told Daily Trojan.
Compounding her mental health condition was having to navigate homophobia, a painful reality in her hometown of Willard, Missouri. Growing up in the conservative Christian Bible Belt, Roan felt pressure to play the part of a typical midwestern woman.
“There’s a lot of churches, and there’s a lot of straight people with families, and it’s just really encouraged to take on the role of a wife and mother,” she told Polyester. “I tried to fit myself into that mold, and it didn’t work.”
She moved to Hollywood when she was 20 years old. Mental health, youth and the Hollywood Culture don’t mix. Don’t ask why she is the way she is, ask how could she not be?
She is a hot mess and should have any baby in the next few years. My greatest joy in life has come from my son and I would do it all again with the same joy. Ima pray for her.
