Tuesday’s Politico Playbook hyped up a campaign event for Michigan Senate candidate Adul El-Sayed with the far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who is best known for his anti-American comments, statements that said the US deserved 9/11, and shocking his dog Kaya live on stream.
The “scoop” in Playbook from correspondent Adam Wren ignored these and more comments from Hasan, continuing a trend of liberal media outlets’ depiction of Piker as the Democrats’ bridge to youth through puff pieces, like one from The New York Times last April that fawned over Hasan and called him “A Progressive Mind in a Body Made for the ‘Manosphere.’”
The short Playbook blurb simply described Hasan as a “left-wing political streamer with millions of followers.”
Politico used Piker’s opinion of El-Sayed in the piece as if he was a leading political expert like FNC’s Brit Hume:
It’s the first large-scale appearance on the stump Piker will make in the midterms, he told Playbook’s Adam Wren in an interview last night. It also speaks to his growing influence in Democratic politics. ‘He’s a great communicator,’ Piker told Playbook of El-Sayed. He added that he “wanted to go to Michigan and offer my help,” and that El-Sayed “spent a good deal of time advocating for Medicare for All, and I think that’s a huge issue on the domestic front.
Political commentators, like Comfortably Smug, called out Politico for ignoring some of the communist influencer’s views, including support for Hamas and comments calling Israelis inbred:
SCOOP in @playbookdc: Politico whitewashes the views of communist influencer Hasan Piker who told his followers how to commit terrorist attacks with drones, said America deserved 9/11, called Israelis “inbred,” supports Hamas, and blamed Israel for October 7th. https://t.co/SxFT0PxLIe

Even a quick search of “Hasan Piker” on X gave many results of controversial statements.
Hasan was most recently rightfully criticized for a trip to Cuba last weekend with other leftist influencers, including Code Pink activists, Ilhan Omar’s daughter, and others.

He also recently stayed at a 5-star hotel with electricity and water on his trip to Cuba, while regular Cubans are left in the dark amid another communist-created blackout.
The list of horrific things Hasan has said or done that Politico and other outlets have mostly ignored is almost too long to fit into a piece, but there are some highlights.
First of all, he literally shocked his dog, Kaya, on stream, to the outrage of many Twitch viewers and casual scrollers on the internet.
Also, as mentioned above, in 2019, he said on stream that the U.S. deserved the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Piker actively supported Zohran Mamdani throughout his election campaign, so much so that Mamdani had to distance himself from Piker’s comments in a mayoral debate.
His support for terrorism has also reached new heights after Hamas’s October 7th attacks as his streams have shifted to be full of anti-Israel sentiment and, in some cases, support of Hamas and other terror groups. Piker has denied any rape took place on October 7th, which is part of what prompted a Democratic congressman, Ritchie Torres, to write to Twitch to take action against Piker.
Notably, he has played terrorist propaganda videos on stream, in one instance leaving a guest of his to watch a Houthi propaganda video by himself for a few minutes.
There is so much more to talk about with Hasan, but the overall point remains that the liberal media has chosen to formulate him as the future of the democratic party, with another puff piece being written about him just earlier this week by Vanity Fair.
A Semafor YouTube thumbnail for an interview with Piker even read: “The Gen-Z Left’s Rush Limbaugh.”
This isn’t just a Politico problem. Most of the liberal media has a Hasan Piker problem that doesn’t seem to be going away. It’s just getting worse.
