Just as NPR (National PUBLIC Radio) has done, PBS (PUBLIC Broadcasting Station) has now filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration. As a public entity, they are demanding that OUR tax dollars continue to pay for their “Free Speech” whether we like it or not.

Lawyers for PBS said the executive order is “blatant viewpoint discrimination and an infringement of PBS and PBS Member Stations’ private editorial discretion,” and is a violation of the First Amendment and parts of the Public Broadcasting Act, which was passed in 1967. The suit argues that Mr. Trump does not have the authority to block federal funding to the public TV stations over their news coverage.

“The EO makes no attempt to hide the fact that it is cutting off the flow of funds to PBS because of the content of PBS programming and out of a desire to alter the content of speech,” the complaint says. “The EO smacks of retaliation for, among other things, perceived political slights in news coverage.”

I just love how this very public entity is claiming that Trump’s Executive Order is wrong because they are just a completely unbiased organization. Uh huh…

They have made it clear they hate our Constitution. They broadcast actual abortions. Evidently cannibalism is totally fine with some of the NPR and PBS stations. And they are also completely fine with drag shows, drag library readings, and more. They also provided cover for Joe Biden. Furthermore, PBS decided to issue rants and warnings by describing what Trump is doing will be the “path to lawlessness.” Sounds totally objective and unbiased doesn’t it?

The lawsuit by PBS claims that the President and therefore we the taxpayers have no say in the content of the programming.

“PBS disputes those charged assertions in the strongest possible terms,” lawyer Z.W. Julius Chen wrote in the suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington. “But regardless of any policy disagreements over the role of public television, our Constitution and laws forbid the President from serving as the arbiter of the content of PBS’s programming, including by attempting to defund PBS.”

Not only that, but PBS, just like NPR is attempting to claim that there are still areas in the U.S. where THEY are the only programming available for local news and such. Have they MET the internet??

What’s also rich about this lawsuit is they actually admit that our taxpayer dollars only fund about 22% of the whole. You know what? I’d say they can figure out where to get those additional funds pretty quickly.

Hey, Potato Head, our Constitution gives us ALL the right to freedom of speech and you idiots the freedom of the Press. HOWEVER, there is no provision nor clause in that amazing document that MANDATES we have to hand over our tax dollars, no questions asked.

First, both NPR and PBS ARE public entities because of how they were set up. Secondly, because they get tax dollars, we ALL have a say in how that funding is spent.

Exactly. NPR and PBS are claiming that they are independent news rooms who have an unfettered and unchecked right to air whatever content they want over radio and TV airwaves, and we the taxpayers have no say.

Again, Freedom of the Press ONLY means Freedom OF the Press. It does not, in any way shape or form mean Freedom of the Press funded by American taxpayers.

However, according to both organizations, the fact that we the taxpayer have problems with their free speech, is viewpoint discrimination because reasons, MAGA, Trump, and whatever else they dream up.

They claim they are non-partisan. Oh really? There’s boatloads of evidence showing otherwise.

Furthermore, how about those terrific CEO salaries??!

And yet, they are suing the Trump Administration while declaring that they and only they are the sole decision-makers as to what Free Speech is and isn’t in their organizations. They are certainly being paid well.

PBS CEO Paula Kerger earns $1,055,135 in salary and $113,526 in “other compensation,” while three other PBS employees make over $500,000, according to OpenTheBooks. Meanwhile, NPR spent $5.18 million on payroll for its officers and key employees, according to the report.

The bottom line is this. Cutting federal funding to PBS and NPR is not an affront to the First Amendment. If what they do is so very important to the fabric of this country, as they claim it is, then advertisers and listeners should pony up the bucks.
