Former President Barack Obama claimed the motives of gunman who opened fire at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday are unknown – hours after suspect Cole Tomas Allen’s own explanation of his motives was made public.
“[We don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night’s shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner,” Obama claimed in a X.com post at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Nearly six hours earlier, The New York Post published (and other media subsequently reported) the full text of Allen’s thousand-word manifesto thoroughly detailing his plans.
One section of Allen’s manifesto is even titled: “On to why I did any of this.”
In the manifesto, Allen explicitly articulates his motives are to target President Donald Trump and members of the Trump Administration, in comments such as:
“And I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.
“Administration officials (not including Mr. Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest.”
“I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people *chose* to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.”
“I don’t see anyone else picking up the slack.”
“In so far as representatives and judges do not follow the law, no one is required to yield them anything so unlawfully ordered.”
“I experience rage thinking about everything this administration has done.”
Armed with multiple firearms, Allen allegedly shot a security agent wearing a bullet-proof vest, before being subdued and taken into custody. He is scheduled to be arranged and charged Monday afternoon.
