May Day is the traditional communist holiday. The Soviet Union marked it with massive parades. Today the communist threat comes not from Russia but from institutions subverted by Marxists within our own country. This report from North Carolina’s News & Observer comes as no surprise:
Several school districts have canceled classes on May 1 because so many teachers have requested the day off to join a mass protest in Raleigh organized by the North Carolina Association of Educators.
For example,
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board voted Friday [to] make May 1 an optional teacher workday for traditional-calendar schools because 2,622 teachers had requested the day off.
At least nine North Carolina school districts will close schools on May 1 because leftist agitators will be too busy agitating to indoctrinate children. They want the government to take more money from others and give it to them.
Barks NCAE President Tamika Walker Kelly:
“We will not back down when it comes to ensuring our children receive the education they need and deserve.”
Apparently this is accomplished not by showing up to teach but by taking to the streets to wave placards and shout demands.
The rally in Raleigh is entitled “Kids Over Corporations,” combining the usual “for the children” posturing with more straightforward Marxist hostility to economic freedom. Echoing the communist Bernie Sanders, the website for the rally demands that “billionaires and corporations pay their fair share.” It ominously promises to “Reclaim Our Democracy.” “Our Democracy” is Liberalese for leftist rule.
Tamika Walker Kelly makes her case for squeezing “corporations and the wealthy”:
