This morning on CNBC, host Rick Santelli delivered some positive economic news for Americans living under the presidency of Donald Trump.
According to Santelli, the income numbers for the first four months of the year under Trump’s leadership have been “stellar.” Taking a look at the current economic data available reveals just how accurate Santelli’s assessment is.
During a segment on the network, Santelli said he could take a look at the first four months of any year on the books and see that the income numbers being produced under the current administration are higher than usual.
Santelli slammed those who have been heavily criticizing the current administration for not giving “credit where credit is due.”
Personal income during the month of April 2025 went up by 0.8 percent, supported by wage gains and policy measures from the Trump administration, such as the Social Security Fairness Act. The growth resulted in a 0.2 percent increase in consumer spending, despite plenty of uncertainty floating around.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics put out data showing how the U.S. labor market has shown major resilience since the start of 2025. Here are some of the figures:
- January: 143,000 jobs added; unemployment rate at 4.0%.
- February: 151,000 jobs added; unemployment rate increased to 4.1%.
- March: 185,000 jobs added (revised figure).
- April: 177,000 jobs added; unemployment rate remained at 4.2%.
The average hourly earnings also went up by 0.5 percent during the month of January, with a 0.3 percent rise in December.
In another bit of good news for Americans, the Federal Reserve’s core Personal Consumption Expenditures inflation rate tumbled to 2.5 percent in April, the lowest since spring 2021.
As Santelli stated, the first four months of 2025 have proven to be excellent for both the Trump administration and the American people. The country has witnessed robust personal income growth, steady employment figures, and people having more money to spend in the marketplace.
Santelli and many other economists believe the country is headed in the right direction and should be giving the Trump administration the credit it is owed for correcting course.
