An unexpected consequence in the attacks on Iran is a shaking out of who our friends are… and are NOT.

It seems reasonable that if we pump untold billions into European countries in maintaining a military presence there (and in other countries around the world), we should expect to actually use those bases of operations when we are in a hot war with a hostile global power.

The fact that some of our allies closed their airspace to us during this conflict while other, unlikely countries joined in our fight did NOT go unnoticed in Washington DC. It was bad enough they offered no help in opening the Strait upon which their on economy relies. Their combat readiness is a joke. But closing airspace? C’mon! You guys missed a layup.

Marco Rubio stood up last week and said that when this conflict is over, we will need to re-examine the nature of this alliance, and he specifically predicated it on the refusal decisions and public actions of our supposed European allies.

The United Nations sit mere months from insolvency. If NATO’s European partners alienate America, they could be facing a similar crisis.

NATO’s SecGen, Mark Rutte, went on Jake Tapper’s show. Imagine Jake’s dismay when the Rutte sided with Trump!

With the decade-long spat CNN has had with Trump, they must have thought Jake’s question would roast the President.

“Is the world safer today.”

A no would have been catnip to the NeverTrump network, and even an equivocation could be leveraged as a win for them. But that’s not the answer Rutte gave them:
