The old phrase ‘I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy’ that applies to this story… at least so far as those of us with an ounce of decency.
News reports tell us that Rob Reiner and his wife were both found dead in their home, with wounds consistent with being stabbed with a knife.
If that were not bad enough, other reports have indicated that the suspect is his own son, Nick, who has a past history of drug abuse and periods of homelessness.
On TV, he was remembered as the son-in-law to Archie Bunker on ‘All In The Family’, nicknamed ‘meathead’ by Archie.
Behind the camera, he was responsible for some of the most beloved films ever to see the screen. He gave us ‘A Few Good Men’; ‘Misery’; ‘When Harry Met Sally’; ‘This Is Spinal Tap’; ‘The Sure Thing’; ‘Stand By Me’; and of course ‘The Princess Bride’.
Was he about as virulently anti-Trump and anti-MAGA as a person can get?
You bet. So what?
His opinions, as odious as they were, were merely that. But who he was as a human made in God’s image, and his accomplishments over his life? Both of those far outweigh any online sniping he may have done.
Besides, he showed his own true colors in the days following the murder of Charlie Kirk.
At a time when some in his own political camp would have cheered him for taking that public opportunity to equivocate on Charlie’s death — in a ‘murder is bad, but’ shifting of blame onto the victim as so many others tried to do — Reiner minced no words, rightly recognizing in Charlie the humanity intrinsic to us all.
His reaction to the assassination was ‘horror’.
Rob Reiner was extremely compassionate about Charlie Kirk.
I do not agree with this man politically but just as he stated Charlie’s death was a tragedy , so was Rob and his wife’s

Murdered by your own son? If true, it’s hard to imagine any more horrific way to spend your final moments. And I can think of nobody I would ever wish that end upon.
Social media accounts keep trying to assume the worst about Conservatives, assuming we will be licking our chops with the sort of hate we’re used to seeing thrown our way.
But I’m pleased to say, we keep proving them wrong.
Here is a sampling of posts from many who explicitly made a distinction between the man’s opinions and his contribution.

I’d say that’s a pretty good representation.
Now compare this list to the number of times you saw someone on the other side celebrating Charlie Kirk’s demise, openly wishing Trump had NOT turned his head at the last minute, or who post images of a bottle of bubbly being chilled in anticipation of ‘the day’ where the unspoken but explicitly understood ‘bad thing’ happens to President Trump.
We don’t even have to pull up obscure examples. The guy who was running as Veep pick on the ticket under Kamala made direct reference to his disappointment that the ‘news’ [e.g. rumors of Tump being assassinated] had been discredited. He held up hope that such news would one day come in the future.
For all the endless criticisms of Trump’s moral character, who is the degenerate? The guy who taunts his political rivals with insults, or the one who quietly hopes for their death.
We all saw Trump react in real time, for example, to the news of RGB’s passing. They were hardly a mutual admiration society. But he responded to her passing with the grace and dignity she deserved.
Meanwhile, the left makes heroes of Luigi Mamdani, promises sexual favors to anyone who takes out the ‘bad orange man’, and console each other with fantasies about Trump’s mortality, extending that out to include his inner circle.
Meanwhile, the Media(D) will insist that ‘conservative rhetoric’ is deeply ‘problemmatic’.
