Long before President Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan was officially on the job, he was publicly declaring how the new sheriff in town would be handling illegal immigration much differently than the failed Biden regime’s approach.

He recently took his critique of the previous administration even further with a scathing indictment of former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

As the Daily Caller reported:

“Well, his lips are moving, means he’s lying. He lied from day one. The bottom line is, how did he do on that question and sanctuary cities? Sanctuary cities tripled under his command,” Homan said after “America’s Newsroom” host Dana Perino. “He said he wanted to do something about it, but he didn’t do it. The same time he’s talking about cities releasing public safety threats on the streets, how about what he did on the southern border? We had 2.2 million known gotaways they did nothing about. They released national security threats through the border. The released people so quickly, they released them before venting came back from the FBI. He was a failure as secretary of Homeland Security.”

Mayorkas has been on the receiving end of significant backlash given the Biden administration’s disastrous immigration record:

Homan’s recent remarks were far from the first he has aimed at Mayorkas. In 2023, he accused the then-DHS chief of lying before Congress, as Fox News reported at the time:

Former acting ICE Director Tom Homan argued on “Faulkner Focus” Wednesday that Mayorkas is unaware of how many people are actually crossing the southern border and that the secretary is “lying” about the scope of the crisis.

“He’s not telling Congress, the American people exactly what he’s doing. He’s lying to the American people, and he’s lying to Congress under oath, which is a crime in itself,” said Homan.

Mayorkas was on the receiving end of another barrage from Republicans on Wednesday as he faced the House Judiciary Committee and was quizzed about the administration’s efforts to tackle the border crisis.

“I’ve been in Congress seven years. I think you’re the most dishonest witness that has ever appeared before the Judiciary Committee, and I think I speak for a lot of my colleagues,” Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., said. “This is such a frustrating exercise for us because our constituents want answers.”
