Remember how hard Jack Smith fought to bend the law into shapes that could ensnare DJT? Now that he’s come before Congress, it’s time to answer for what he KNEW he was doing wrong.

A lot of this comes down to that familiar trope ‘what did you know, and when did you know it’.

As far as observers on the right are concerned, Jack Smith was brought in for one job and one job only: to take down a political enemy the left could not take down in a fair fight at the ballot box.

Here are a couple of moments from the hearing.

Jim Jordan turned Jack Smith on the ‘star witness’ of the J6 Committee, totally undermining the woman whose testimony was cited 185 times in the J6 Committee report.

We don’t yet know if Bondi’s DOJ is going to test Trump’s negation of the Autopen pardons, but if they do, there are credible allegation of Liz Cheney’s involvement in witness tampering.

Brandon Gill put on a clinic showing how ‘just the facts’ questions can be used in a spectacularly damning fashion.

Was the Speaker of the House a ‘flight risk’?

The guy has 24/7 security, but we’re supposed to think he had just cause to call McCarthy a ‘flight risk’. Riiiight.

If you want a summary of the events, Margot Cleveland live-tweeted the hearings.

At one point, an ex-cop who gave discredited J6 testimony popped up on the scene and ‘coughed’ an obscenity at the Republican speaker, flipped off the entire line of GOP members and expressed some real beta-male ‘hold me back’ bro energy posturing as if he was going to throw hands right there in the hearings, while dressed in his scruffy Dropkick Murphys t-shirt.

The line of questions about his swearing in were interesting, since concerns about his appointment process loomed large over his tenure.

One line of questions, right after making some very relevant points on Jack Smith’s scant familiarity with the virtue of humility was asked, in retrospect, if he had made any mistakes.

The reply he gave was like one of those classic “my biggest flaw is that I try too hard” interview answer. He didn’t show enough gratitude to his staff.

That wasn’t the question, bub, and you know it. But thanks for throwing a spotlight on your own contempt for both the law and the process.

There are a few points in his testimony that will likely be written up in a formal criminal referral to the DOJ.
